Cincinnati Reds vs. St. Louis Cardinals Friday July 15 Betting Preview
The Cincinnati Reds will travel to St. Louis on Friday night to take on the Cardinals for the first of a three game series at 8:15 p.m. Games two and three will both be played at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. This is the last series for all teams before the All Star break next week.
The Reds are coming into this series as winners of six out of the last ten games with a 33-55 overall record. That record puts them in last in the NL Central, 15.5 games behind first place and one game behind the Chicago Cubs in fourth place. The Reds are only 15-27 on the road so far this season.
The Cardinals, on the other hand, have won four out of their last ten with an overall record of 48-43. They are two games behind the Brewers in first place and 9.5 games ahead of the Pirates who are in third place in the NL Central. They are 27-19 at home this season.
Let’s look ahead at this divisional matchups between the Cincinnati Reds and the St. Louis Cardinals starting on Friday night.
Betting Odds
The Cardinals (-167) are the obvious favorites in Friday’s game and in the series due to them having the better overall record and home field advantage. The Reds played their third and final game of their series against the New York Yankees, where Cincinnati won 7-6.

Expected Pitching Matchup
It will be a battle of the right handers in Friday’s matchup between Hunter Greene of the Reds and Andre Pallante of the Cardinals. Greene has struggled this season with his record of 3-10, 5.70 ERA and 107 strikeouts.Pallante has also struggled to find his groove with a record of 2-4, posting a 3.18 ERA and 42 strikeouts.
Greene got the no decision in his last pitching outing against the Rays where he went six innings, giving up one run on three hits and striking out nine Rays batters. Pallante had the same luck against the Phillies where he escaped with a no decision after giving up three runs on nine hits in 5.2 innings.
Reds vs. Cardinals Friday Betting Pick
This series seems like a nice and easy series win for the Cardinals, but I wouldn’t be so sure. The Reds have turned on the gas recently, and it is showing in their past results. They are coming off a few wins in the Bronx against the Yankees and a sweep of the talented Tampa Bay Rays at home.
I am rolling with the Reds to win two out of three in this series, including one on Friday night as they roll into the All-Star break on a nice hot streak.
