Cleveland Guardians vs. Los Angeles Angels April 25 Betting Preview

It will be an American League battle of Central versus West starting on Monday as the Cleveland Guardians (7-8) take on the Los Angeles Angels (9-7). Los Angeles will host this one at Angel Stadium, with the first pitch scheduled for 9:38 p.m.

The Guardians come into this series on the heels of being swept by the New York Yankees over the weekend. On Sunday, Cleveland lost 10-2.

The Angels also dropped their weekend series, but they did manage to win the finale 7-6 on Sunday.

Pitching Matchup

Cleveland will send ace Shane Bieber (1-0, 2.25 ERA) to the mound Monday to try to snap their three-game losing streak. In his last outing, Bieber picked up the win going six innings and allowing just one run against the White Sox.

The Angels will counter with righty Michael Lorenzen (1-1, 4.82 ERA). This season, Lorenzen has converted to a starter and pitched 9.1 innings in two starts, striking out nine and managing a 0.86 WHIP.

Guardians Look For Consistency

It has truly been all or nothing over the last four series for Cleveland. They swept the Reds in a two-game series, were swept by the Giants in three, swept the White Sox in three, and over the weekend were swept by the Yankees. If the pattern continues, they could find success in this series but will look to at least take the first game behind ace Shane Bieber.

Unfortunately, not only did the Guardians lose Sunday’s game, but they also saw revelation Steven Kwan leave the game with an injury. He was removed from the third inning after feeling some right hamstring tightness. This season, Kwan has hit .341/.456/.500 with seven runs batted in and 10 runs scored.

Of course, the team’s offensive catalyst continues to be Jose Ramirez. He is hitting .362/.415/.690 with four home runs and 20 runs batted in. He is also two for five against Lorenzen with a home run.

Angels Look To Improve At Home

At 9-7, the Angels currently sit in second in the AL West. While they have been especially strong on the road (5-2), they will look to improve at Angel Stadium, where they are just 4-5.

Mike Trout started to heat up over the weekend against Baltimore. In the three games, he went 6 for 12, including a pair of home runs in Saturday’s game. On the season, Trout is now hitting .333/.451/.690 with four home runs, five runs batted in, and 12 runs scored in 42 at bats.

After a really slow start to the season, reigning MVP Shohei Ohtani has also started to play better. He now has his line up to .224/.288/.403 with three home runs, nine runs batted in, and 12 runs.

Angels Look To Ride Ace Back Into The Win Column

Coming off of the White Sox series, there was a lot of optimism in Cleveland that the Guardians had enough to compete in the division. While that is still likely true, they were brought back down to reality as they were swept in New York.

Now heading cross country to Los Angeles, the Guardians will look to ace Shane Bieber to help them end their losing streak Monday.

Luckily, the Guardians have had success against the Angels recently. In fact, they are undefeated in the last five games against Los Angeles, and they are 5-1 in their last six games at Angel Stadium.

Between their success against L.A. and Bieber on the mound, the Guardians have a really good opportunity to get this series started off on the right foot.
