Los Angeles Angels vs. Cleveland Guardians September 13 Betting Preview

The Cleveland Guardians (74-65) will look to keep their winning streak alive as they host the Los Angeles Angels (61-80) Tuesday in the second of a three-game series. This game will be played at Progressive Field with first pitch scheduled for 6:10 p.m.

Cleveland was able to take the opener 5-4 behind a great day from the bullpen. After Konnor Pilkington allowed four runs in five innings, the bullpen shut down the Angels for four innings.

Offensively, the Guardians got five runs on eight hits. Steven Kwan, Amed Rosario and Owen Miller combined for six of those eight hits, while Austin Hedges had two runs batted in.

For the Angels, Reid Detmers gave up four runs in five innings, but it was Aaron Loup who took the loss after giving up the go-ahead run in the sixth.

Both Matt Duffy and Mike Trout homered in the defeat. They both had two runs batted in as well.

The Guardians are slight favorites playing at home Tuesday. They are (-136) to win, while the Angels moneyline sits at (+120). The runline features Los Angeles +1.5 (-182), and the over/under for total runs is eight.

Pitching Matchup

Los Angeles will send 24-year-old lefty Jose Suarez to the bump on Tuesday. In 18 games, he is 6-6 with a 3.77 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and he has 84 strikeouts in 86 innings of work.

Manager Terry Francona will counter with righty Cody Morris. He is 0-1 in two games with a 3.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, and he has five strikeouts in six innings.

Trout Looking To Make History

At 61-80, the Angels sit 30 games out of first place in the AL West. While their postseason chances are nonexistent, there is still plenty of intrigue around the team as Mike Trout chases history.

In Monday’s opener, Trout hit a home run in his seventh consecutive game when he took Konnor Pilkington deep. With the MLB record set at eight, Trout will have the opportunity to tie for the longest home run streak on Tuesday.

This season, Trout is hitting .279/.368/.633 with 35 home runs, 69 runs batted in, and 72 runs scored for the Angels.

Guardians Continue To Create Separation

With 23 games left in the MLB regular season, Cleveland has expanded their divisional lead to three games over the Chicago White Sox and five over the Minnesota Twins. Still, as they face these two teams a combined nine more times over the next couple weeks, Cleveland knows every win is crucial.

No Guardians’ hitter has a ton of experience against the Angels’ Jose Suarez, but still, keep an eye on Amed Rosario in this one. He is three for three against the lefty with a home run and two runs batted in.

Against lefties, Jose Ramirez (6 HR, 24 RBI), Andres Gimenez (.312 avg, 3 HR, 11 RBI), and Oscar Gonzalez (.266 avg, 2 HR, 6 RBI) have also had some success.

Guardians Look To Make It Five In A Row

On a little bit of a hot streak, the Cleveland Guardians will look to extend their current winning streak to five games on Tuesday. In the process, they are also looking to get Cody Morris his first career win.

The problem for Cleveland is that Jose Suarez has pitched well as of late. He has back-to-back wins and has given up just two runs in his last 13 innings pitched.

Still, Cleveland is undefeated in their last nine games against the Angels at Progressive Field. If Morris can limit the damage from the Angels’ bats, Cleveland should hopefully be able to pick up their fifth win in a row and secure a series win in the process.
