Tuesday marks the 92nd All-Star game in Major League Baseball history. Being played at the historic Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, the greatest players in the game will convene trying to represent their respective leagues.

In the American League, stars like Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, and others will be on hand, while the National League features stars like Ronald Acuna Jr, Paul Goldschmidt, Manny Machado, and Pete Alonso.

With the excitement of the game, there are opportunities to whet your appetite in terms of potential bets. Let’s take a look at some of the best bets and props for this year’s All-Star game.

American League Moneyline: -104

Like every year, both teams are stacked top to bottom. Additionally, the National League will have home field advantage this season playing in Dodger Stadium. Despite all of this, the American League is still the side to take on the moneyline.

Despite being underdogs (National League is -116 to win), the American League comes in on a nine-game winning streak. The 2020 All-Star game (which was supposed to be at Dodger Stadium) was canceled, but the previous time that the American League lost was all the way back in 2012 when they were blanked 8-0.

Since that time, the American League has outscored the National League 37 to 20. Don’t be surprised if that domination continues Tuesday, and at the very least, there is a ton of value with the American League as the underdogs.

Take The Under 8.5 Runs (-145)

While most people assume that All-Star games mean high-scoring contests, that is not generally the case. Unlike the NBA, scoring is held to a premium thanks to the outstanding pitching that can work in just one or two-inning increments.

In fact, since 2006, the two sides have combined for over 8.5 runs just three times, with the most recent being in 2018. Last year, at one of the league’s most hitter-friendly parks (Coors Field), the two sides combined for just seven runs as the American League won 5-2.

Don’t assume that since there are a ton of sluggers that the ball will be jumping out of the yard. That is on Monday during the Home Run Derby. Take the under 8.5 runs.

American League and Under 8.5 Runs (+240)

If you feel strongly about both of the previous bets, you can enhance your payday by combining them. Currently, the odds for the American League to win and the under 8.5 runs to hit is +240.

Take A Hitter For Your All-Star MVP Bet

If wanting to roll the dice on choosing the All-Star Game Most Valuable Player, make sure to take a hitter.

Since 2000, only two pitchers have ever won the All-Star Game MVP. Mariano Rivera (2013) and Shane Bieber (2019) have both won, but every other year it has been a slugger.

In that span, returning All-Star Mike Trout has won it twice. Last year, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. won the coveted award.

Some interesting picks for MVP include Shohei Ohtani (+400), Aaron Judge (+490), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+600), Paul Goldschmidt (+1300), and Rafael Devers (+2400).

Two other interesting names to consider are Mookie Betts (+750) and Trea Turner (+1600). If the National League can pull out a victory, there can be value in taking the hometown fan favorites. With the game being played at Dodger Stadium, both Betts and Turner would fall right into that mix.
