Buffalo Bills receiver Stefon Diggs runs after catching a pass against the Denver Broncos

In what feels like a major holiday today for big time sports fans around the world, the NFL is finally upon us. What better way to kick it off as we head out to Los Angeles where the Super Bowl Champion Rams will host the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football.

Puskar's Picks was a solid two-for-four yesterday, as the Cardinals came back down 5-1 in the ninth inning against the Nationals to keep us at .500 on the day. Most importantly, though, who's ready for some football?

The first pick of the day happens to also be my favorite play of the day, riding Josh Alen and the Bills all the way to the cash counter.

The Bills are -2.5 point favorites in this game, rightfully so. Although the Rams are world champions, the Bills overall have the better roster.

Matthew Stafford had work done on his shoulder this off-season, so who knows just how much that will come into play not only in this game but as the season progresses.

Josh Allen is hungry and is ready to go after losing a heartbreaker to the Chiefs in overtime last season. Give me the Bills -2.5 tonight, and let's get Bills Mafia started off right to begin the new season.

Bet No. 1: Bills -2.5 (-110)

My second pick of the day comes from Oakland, where the Athletics host the Chicago White Sox.

The White Sox have been surging as of late, creeping to within just two games of the AL Central leading Cleveland Guardians.

The White Sox have also won six out of their last eight games, riding a hot streak into a new series with the Athletics. They will also have their ace on the mound tonight in Dylan Cease, so I expect him to dominate tonight leading to another win for the White Sox.

Bet No. 2: White Sox ML (-200)

For the next pick, we head to Chicago as the Cubs will host the Cincinnati Reds in a matchup where both starting pitchers are capable of giving up runs.

For the Cubs, Adrian Sampson will get the start, who is 1-5 with an ERA just below four. He will matchup against the Reds' Luis Cessa, who has an ERA above five despite being 3-2 on the season.

I'm banking on plenty of runs being scored in this game, taking the over today in Chicago.

Bet No. 3: Reds/Cubs Over 8 Runs (-115)

Pick number four once again comes from the Nationals vs. Cardinals series.

The Cardinals had one of the smoothest comebacks of the season last night, as they entered the ninth inning down by a score of 5-1, but somehow found a way to get it done and come all the way back to win it in the ninth. Risking $50 on this game would net you $68, so we're looking for a small but safe return on this one.

Adam Wainwright will be on the mound today for the Cardinals. Simply put, they are the better team and I'm riding the hot hand today as they will look to secure a series win and take three out of four from the Nationals.

Bet No. 4: Cardinals ML (-278)
