Garrett Wilson NFL Draft Player Prop Bets

Like its recent predecessors, the 2022 NFL Draft is likely to boast several elite wide receivers. Among them, Ohio State's Garrett Wilson has a chance to be the best of the bunch.

Wilson enjoyed a huge junior season with the Buckeyes in 2021, accruing 1,058 receiving yards and 12 receiving touchdowns in one of the most dynamic offenses in college football. As a result, the 6-foot wideout could be one of the top receivers selected during this month’s draft in Las Vegas.

Before commissioner Roger Goodell takes the stage on April 28, consider the following prop bets involving the Buckeye star.

Garrett Wilson Draft Position (O/U 10.5)

Based on Wilson’s projected draft position, he’s a near-lock to go in the first round. The question, however, is whether he'll be a top-10 selection.

As mentioned above, the Jets and Panthers have each expressed interest in Wilson. There’s also a chance the Atlanta Falcons — who boast the No. 8 pick — could surprise many by opting for a receiver to replace the suspended Calvin Ridley rather than a quarterback to replace the departed Matt Ryan.

Wilson’s -160 odds to go under pick 10.5 means his floor could be Gang Green at No. 10. But with three offensive tackles, three edge-rushers, and maybe even two QBs projected to land inside the top-10, there’s a distinct possibility “over” bettors (+125) could cash on Wilson slipping to Washington at No. 11 or even further down the draft board.

Total Wide Receivers Drafted in First Round (O/U 5.5)

While nothing is promised when it comes to the NFL Draft, it’s safe to assume Wilson will be a first-round pick. But what about the other pass-catchers in this class?

The latest odds show we’re more likely to see over 5.5 first-round wide receivers (-271) than under (+200). The trio of Wilson, London, and Williams will certainly go early on, even as soon as the top 15. However, the rest of this year’s WR group is far from a sure thing.

While Burks may be a long-shot to be the first receiver selected, he should be a night one prospect. As for Olave, OSU’s all-time leader in touchdown receptions, he could go anywhere from the middle of the first to early second round. 

North Dakota State’s Christian Watson, Western Michigan’s Skyy Moore, and Penn State’s Jahan Dotson each possess first-round upside. But all three could easily find themselves as Day 2 selections, as well.

The Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs could make or break this bet, as both teams possess two first-rounders after trading their franchise wideouts. If they immediately replace Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill with at least one first-round selection, Wilson becomes one of six or more wideouts taken on opening night.

Garrett Wilson First Wide Receiver Selected (+135)

Wilson is far from likely to be the only first-round receiver. Alabama’s Jameson Williams, USC’s Drake London, and Arkansas’ Treylon Burks have all seen their stocks rise into first-round territory over the pre-draft process. Even OSU teammate Chris Olave will likely join Wilson as a first-round selection.

Yet it’s Wilson, the 21-year-old speedster, who’s penciled in as the favorite to go first amongst wide receivers.

College numbers aside, the Columbus-born prospect wowed scouts with impressive showings at the NFL Draft Combine and Ohio State Pro Day. Wilson’s 4.38 40-yard dash and his experience on the outside and in the slot make him a versatile prospect capable of plugging into multiple offenses.

While London (+150) and Williams (+300) have gained top-10 momentum, Wilson has spoken to multiple teams near the top of the first round. The 2020 first-team All-Big Ten selection has had official visits with the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers, who own picks No. 4 and 6, respectively, and the Washington Commanders at No. 11.
