Ja'Marr Chase's uncertain status is central to Cincinnati's trip to Miami. If he cannot play, Joe Burrow must create scoring chances without his primary receiving threat, while the Dolphins have more freedom to squeeze the remaining targets. That changes the spread case and the reasoning behind the Chase Brown and Mike Gesicki props.

What The Current Numbers Actually Say
The Bengals face the Dolphins on Sunday, October 11 at 1:00 PM ET at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

2026 regular season to date: Dolphins went 0-4, scoring 11.5 points per game and allowing 25.3; Bengals went 2-2, scoring 24.3 and allowing 21.3.

Cincinnati averaged 7.5 yards per pass attempt and now faces a Miami defense that allowed 8.3. In the other direction, Miami produced 6.9 per attempt against a Cincinnati secondary that surrendered 7.7.

On third down, Cincinnati converted 45.3% to Miami's 38.0%. Cincinnati allowed 9 sacks across 4 games. Miami gave up 11 across 4 games.

Ja'Marr Chase's availability changes the shape of this offense. Cincinnati's Thursday-night report had him limited in practice and still in concussion protocol; Tee Higgins missed a second straight practice. Neither absence is confirmed here for Sunday. Chase is a primary outside and after-catch threat, so losing him would affect where Miami can send coverage help, not just who receives a few extra targets.

The key availability concern for Miami: ESPN lists Caleb Douglas (Ankle) as questionable (Oct 8). An absence could change the distribution of touches; it does not guarantee more work for any one teammate.

What's The Big Question?
How does Cincinnati keep Miami from squeezing the passing game if Chase cannot play?

Miami's 8.3 yards allowed per pass attempt offers a target, but Cincinnati's 7.5-yard offensive average includes work from its injured receivers. Burrow cannot simply transfer Chase's ability to win outside and gain yards after the catch to the next player on the depth chart. If Chase is absent, motion and bunch formations can give the available wideouts cleaner releases, while Gesicki works inside and Brown supplies an outlet from the backfield.

The Dolphins can answer by leaning coverage toward Gesicki and making the remaining wideouts win outside. Higgins's availability matters too: missing both receivers would remove a second way to punish that help. Colbie Young returned to full practice Thursday, but participation does not establish that he can replace either star's production. If Chase clears protocol, Cincinnati regains a threat that makes concentrating on Gesicki more costly.

How To Bet The Next Game
Bengals -6.5 (-113) remains the spread lean, but the receiver uncertainty makes it less secure than the season averages suggest. Miami has allowed 25.3 points per game and 8.3 yards per pass attempt, and Storm Duck and Reese Taylor are listed out. Burrow can attack those replacement assignments with motion and layered routes. If Chase cannot play, however, longer drives may require more successful throws to less-established options; pressure or extra coverage on Gesicki could turn touchdowns into field goals. The receiver statuses need another check before treating this as a full-strength Cincinnati bet.

The total is a pass at 42.5. The offense/defense scoring comparison comes to 41.1 points, too little evidence to treat a small difference from the line as a betting edge. The current personnel still have to show how that scoring history translates into this matchup; neither direction earns a recommendation from that comparison alone.

The Prop Bets That Belong On The Card
Chase Brown under 68.5 rushing yards (-114) starts with 51.8 yards and 14.5 carries per game through four games. The receiver injuries cut both ways: more backfield throws would not count toward this rushing line, but a more run-heavy plan or a Cincinnati lead could add carries. Miami could also commit another defender toward the run if it is less concerned about the outside receivers. The under needs Brown's rushing workload to remain contained; a Chase absence by itself is not evidence for that.

Mike Gesicki anytime touchdown (+310) has support in his three receiving touchdowns through four games and Miami's seven passing touchdowns allowed. If Chase is unavailable, Burrow may look inside more often, with motion or a crossing route helping Gesicki find space behind a linebacker. The tradeoff is coverage: without Chase drawing outside attention, a safety can spend more time over Gesicki. More potential targets do not automatically mean a better scoring chance, especially if Higgins is missing too.
