Cleveland Guardians' Gabriel Arias catches baseball during game against Detroit Tigers

The Cleveland Guardians (9-9) and Detroit Tigers (7-9) settle a three-game series on Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park. Detroit won the first two games of the series, including a 1-0 victory on Tuesday night, and has now won five in a row after dropping five consecutive games. Cleveland has lost three games in a row.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. Let's take a look at the starting pitchers.

Starting Pitchers

Cal Quantrill (CLE) - Quantrill has struggled early in the season. He has a 0-1 record to go along with a 5.75 ERA and 1.66 WHIP in 15.2 innings pitched. He went six innings and allowed three earned runs in his last start.

Spencer Turnbull (DET) - It hasn't gone any better for Turnbull through his first three starts, although he seemed to turn the corner in his last start. The 30-year-old right-handed pitcher tossed five innings of six-hit, one-run ball against the Toronto Blue Jays on April 13 to lower his ERA to 9. He has a 1.92 WHIP.

Guardians Betting Preview

After a strong start to the season, it has gone a little sideways for the Guardians as of late. The team is now 0-2 against AL Central opponents but is still 7-5 on the road despite losing three in a row away from Cleveland. They're 4-6 in their last 10 games overall.

The offense hasn't been clicking yet for Cleveland. The team ranks 21st in runs scored per game (4.3), 22nd in batting average (.234), and 25th in OPS (.671). They also have just nine home runs, which is 29th in MLB. Jose Ramirez and Andres Gimenez lead the team with 19 hits.

Tigers Betting Preview

Detroit, now third in the AL Central thanks to a five-game winning streak, still ranks near the bottom of the league in most statistical categories. They're 28th in runs scored per game (3.4), 29th in batting average (.217), and 29th in OPS (.614).

The Tigers have won their last five games by a combined score of 22-15. They lost their prior five games by a combined score of 45-17.

Guardians vs. Tigers Betting Odds and Prediction

Cleveland is a -140 ML favorite with a -1.5 (+110) runline for Wednesday afternoon's game, while the Tigers have +120 ML odds with a +1.5 (-130) runline

The over looks like a good option considering the ERA of Quantrill and Turnbull, but both pitchers are coming off decent starts and are better than their numbers suggest. It's also a cold afternoon with low winds in Detroit. Take the under (-120).
