The Cleveland Guardians (4-2) are in the Bay Area to play the Oakland Athletics (2-3) in the final game of a three-game series on Wednesday. Cleveland, second in the AL Central, dropped a 4-3 decision to the Athletics on Tuesday night. Oakland is now in third place in the AL West.

First pitch for Wednesday afternoon’s game is scheduled for 3:37 p.m. ET. Let's take a look at the expected starting pitchers.

Starting Pitchers

Hunter Gaddis (CLE) - Gaddis made the Guardians opening day roster as the last member of its bullpen, but was promoted to the starting rotation with the injury to Triston McKenzie. He lasted just 3.2 innings in his first start of the season, allowing five hits and four earned runs while striking out four batters.

Kyle Muller (OAK) - Muller, Oakland’s opening day starter, takes the mound for his second start of the season. The 25-year-old left-handed pitcher, acquired from the Atlanta Braves, had an uninspiring spring with 13 earned runs and 30 hits in 18 innings pitched. He looked strong on opening day, however, giving up just four hits and one earned run in five innings.

Cleveland outhit the A’s 8-6 in Tuesday night’s game but lost 4-3 on a walkoff RBI single by Tony Kemp. Shane Bieber had another strong outing, allowing just three hits and three earned runs through six innings pitched, but the bullpen gave up timely hits and allowed three walks. Reliever James Karinchak has now given up four earned runs in just three innings pitched this season.

As a team, the Guardians have an ERA of 4.12, which ranks 12th in the majors. They have a team .256 batting average, which ranks 15th. They’re middle of the road in most major statistical categories but rank third with eight stolen bases. Myles Straw leads all Guardian players with four stolen bases.

Athletics Betting Preview

Oakland’s offense has been much better in this series after scoring just three runs in its first three games. Heading into the third game of the three-game series against Cleveland, the A’s had 15 runs and 20 hits in the series. They’re still ranked 25th in batting average (.218), 21st in home runs (four), and 27th in team ERA (6.07).

Jace Peterson leads the team with four RBI but has an unimpressive .091 batting average through five games. Catcher Conner Capel is the only A’s player with a batting average over .300.

Guardians vs. Athletics Betting Odds And Prediction

Considering the starting pitchers on the mound this afternoon, the over is an enticing bet. The over/under for the game is 8.5, with the over and under paying out (+105) and (-125) respectively.
