Seattle Mariners vs. Cleveland Guardians April 7 Betting Preview
The Seattle Mariners (2-5) and Cleveland Guardians (5-2) meet for the fifth time already this season on Friday afternoon at 4:10 p.m. Cleveland took three of four games from the Mariners to open the season last weekend, and now Seattle is in Cleveland, hoping to return the favor.
Starting Pitchers
Logan Gilbert (SEA) - A towering 6-foot-6 right-handed pitcher, Gilbert was dominant in his lone start of the season but Seattle's offense was unable to give him sufficient support. Gilbert pitched six innings of four-hit ball while striking out seven and allowing just one walk.
Aaron Civale (CLE) - Like Gilbert, Civale pitched great in his first start of the season. Civale pitched seven innings of two-hit ball last Saturday in Cleveland's 2-0 win over the Mariners. His 0.43 WHIP is tied for third among all AL pitchers.
Mariners Betting Preview
Seattle is playing its first road game of the season after a disappointing 2-5 start at Safeco Field. They were 44-37 on the road last season. The team's pitching has been great through the first week of the season, but its offense ranks 24th in batting average (.222), 25th in on-base percentage (.286), and T17th in home runs (6).
Offseason acquisition Teoscar Hernandez and Kolten Wong have been the two most disappointing players for Seattle thus far. Hernandez is hitting just .167 but at least has two of the team's six home runs. Wong has just one hit in 16 at bats.
Guardians Betting Preview
The Guardians, meanwhile, have been winning with timely hitting and pitching, and defense. They're 14th in batting average (.253), 22nd in slugging percentage (.372), and T22nd in home runs (5). They have the second-most stolen bases in the league with 10.
Cleveland has a 4.04 team ERA and a .207 batting average on balls in play, which is fifth in MLB. They've scored 5.4 runs and allowed 4.4 runs per game.
Mariners vs. Guardians Betting Odds And Prediction
Seattle's offense has struggled, and we have a potential pitcher's duel here between Gilbert and Civale. It's also expected to be a cool 39 degrees in Cleveland today, so don't expect the ball to carry in the outfield much. The under (-140) feels like a relatively safe bet today.
