The 2021 Major League Baseball season is now two months old, and things are starting to shake out in terms of betting on the league. The top teams have started their ascent to the top of the standings, and players have identified themselves as All-Star and MVP candidates.

One of the best bets to make when it comes to baseball is a wager on which player will win the AL and MVP Award. This type of bet can result in a big payday, but we are simply focused on the NL MVP race at this time.

There are some big names currently being billed as NL MVP favorites, but there is some real value by taking a look at some lesser-known players. Here are three under-the-radar candidates for the 2021 NL MVP.

Nick Castellanos +1500

If you are a fan of Cincinnati Reds baseball, then you already know that Nick Castellanos should be an MVP candidate this season. Castellanos is in just his second year with the Reds, but he has already proven to be the leader of the offense.

The outfielder ended May with a batting average of .359, and he has also belted 12 home runs to go along with 31 RBIs. Cincinnati has struggled to score runs at times, but Castellanos has been a consistent performer all season long.

Wins Above Replacement (WAR) is one of the most important stats for MVP voters, and that should get Castellanos plenty of attention and votes. Castellanos has posted 2.8 WAR in 2021, and the Reds would be lost without his big bat in the lineup.

Jesse Winker +3500

There is another Cincinnati Reds outfielder that is having a career year, and he could be another surprise MVP winner in the National League this season. Most people consider Castellanos the best hitter on the Reds, but sleeping on Jesse Winker would be a mistake.

Winker has hit 13 home runs with 29 RBIs this season while also sporting an impressive .348 batting average. He would be in the discussion for the Triple Crown this season, but Winker and Castellanos are both battling it out for the team lead in most categories.

If you are looking for a longshot bet to win the NL MVP, then Winker would be a solid choice.

Max Muncy +4500

The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the favorites to win the World Series again this season, and that team is absolutely loaded with talent. Mookie Betts is arguably the best player on the team, and he is always mentioned as an MVP candidate.

Quietly, Max Muncy has put together a monster season for Los Angeles, and he is definitely an under-the-radar pick to win the NL MVP. Muncy has hit 13 home runs and driven in 30 runs, and he is a huge force in the middle of the Dodgers lineup.

The Dodgers are going to be a playoff team this season, and Muncy will likely put up the most impressive stats. This makes him a great pick to win the NL MVP, and there is plenty of value in this choice.
