The 2022 NBA All-Star Game heads to Cleveland, Ohio, for an 8:00 p.m. ET tip-off Sunday night.

Team LeBron will take on team Durant as the NBA continues the new captain-based format that allows two “general managers” to select their rosters from a pool of players. Durant will not participate in the actual game as he continues to rehab an injury.

This year’s showcase features a nice blend of the old guard, first-timers, and the most exciting players in the league. Team LeBron is 4-0 in All-Star Games and will be going for a fifth consecutive victory back in the city where he made his name.

All-Star Game MVP: DeMar DeRozan (+900)

The Chicago Bulls’ small forward is an excellent pick to win the All-Star Game’s Most Valuable Player award for a few different reasons. First and foremost, he is in an incredible rhythm shooting the basketball, recently breaking Wilt Chamberlain’s NBA record for most consecutive 35+ point games on 50% or better shooting (seven).

DeRozan has also been absent from the event for the past few years and will be eager to show out in front of a crowd that will be equally as excited to be back in full force for the event.

DeRozan is also not going to be afraid to put shots up, and just like in fantasy sports, volume is king for the All-Star Game. If he can surpass 20 points and throw down a couple of highlight-reel jams, which he is capable of doing, and the LeBrons win the game, the Bulls’ regular-season MVP candidate could bolster his resume with an All-Star Game MVP.

Team LeBron Total Points o163.5 (-115)

It would be a total shock if Team LeBron did not win the All-Star Game for the fifth consecutive season; the Los Angeles Lakers’ captain filled out his roster with the talents of Steph Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, DeRozan, Luka Doncic, and Donovan Mitchell, among others.

They have tremendous offensive firepower as well as capable three-point shooters but also have bigs to rebound their misses and get second chances at the bucket.

An average of 41 points per quarter is actually not that much in modern All-Star Games, and with the roster construction of Team LeBron, they should find it fairly easy to hit this points total. Keep in mind that they scored 170+ points in two of the last three ASG’s.

Team LeBron -5.5 (-110)

This is more of a traditional bet on the spread, but it is one of the best a vailable for the 2022 All-Star Game. Team LeBron, for all of the reasons mentioned above, has advantages all over the roster, both in talent and experience in the game.

If there is one potential pitfall, it is that the newcomers on Team Durant could be eager to showcase their talents on a national stage.

Regardless of that, Team LeBron famously played suffocating defense in an earlier edition of the ASG to win the game, showing that their GM is all about the win. Taking Team LeBron to cover the spread would be a solid investment.
