Cincinnati Bengals vs. Miami Dolphins Betting Preview

The Miami Dolphins will be traveling to Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati to take on the Bengals for this Week 3 preseason matchup on Sunday, August 29th at 4 p.m. ET on CBS. You can also stream this game on Paramount+.

This should be the most exciting game so far this preseason for Bengals fans, as Joe Burrow is expected to take his in-game snaps for the first time since tearing his ACL last season. As we are nearing the start of the regular season, the starters on both sides should be seeing more minutes on the field.

The second cut for the roster happened this past week. There will be one final cut happening on August 31st. We can expect to see a lot of the players on the bubble try to make their case to be able to stay on the team.

Odds

The spread for the game is 1.5 points in favor of the Bengals. The over/under for the game is set at 36. The moneyline for the Bengals is -115 compared to -105 for the Dolphins.

Preseason Records

The Bengals have split their first 2 preseason games to go 1-1 as they beat the Buccaneers 19-14 in their first game and lost to Washington 17-13 last Friday. They have struggled to find the end zone thus far, and Ja’Marr Chase, their first-round draft pick, has dropped some passes, which could be attributed to a few early jitters for the rookie.

Bengals fans are hoping to see some more offensive consistency against the Dolphins than what they’ve seen in the first 2 games.

The Dolphins have also gone 1-1 as we go into this week 3 matchup. Miami lost to the Bears 20-13 in week 1, but they looked strong vs the Falcons in their second preseason game as the offense exploded to beat the Falcons 37-17. The quarterbacks went a combined 26-33 with three touchdowns. Myles Gaskin looked strong on the ground and through the air.

Things to Watch for the Bengals

Obviously, the main thing to watch for Bengals fans will be Burrow’s return to the field. Hopefully, these last couple of preseason games will give him some time to regain his comfort level going into the new season.

The Burrow-Chase connection will also be a high point to see if there will be any early chemistry between the two ex LSU teammates. Both the offensive and defensive lines were the main weak points last season, so Bengals fans are hoping for continual improvement for both lines going into the season.

Conclusion

This should be a tight matchup with two teams trying to get their 2nd win in the preseason. The preseason is a time when rookies can get up to speed in the NFL and bubble players can show why they deserve one of the final spots on the team. Both teams have players fighting for spots which should make this game one of the most competitive so far in the preseason.
