Darius Garland drives by a Detroit Pistons defender in a November 2021 NBA contest at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently 35-23 but have dropped two straight games.

The Detroit Pistons, on the other hand, are 13-45 but are coming off a win.

This should be a fun one!

Betting Odds & Lines

The spread for Thursday night is set at CLE -6.5. The over/under is sitting at 208.5 points.

Darius Garland and Caris Levert Out For This Game

Darius Garland will be out yet again for the Cavs, as it’ll be up for their depth at the guard position to fill in for the first time All-Star.

Recent acquisition Caris LeVert can help with that, but that won't be able to be showcased as Caris Levert is also going to miss tonight's game with a foot injury.

Cedi Osman has also proven capable of stepping in for Garland at the guard position with his all-around ability to shoot and be a playmaker for his teammates, especially off the pick-and-roll.

Although Rajon Rondo has lost a step, we can’t count him out from time to time, as he had a 15 point, 12 assist game recently.

Look Out For Jarrett Allen

Jarrett Allen actually played some crunch time defense during the All-Star Game, drawing the matchup against Joel Embiid.

Before the All-Star Game, Allen was averaging 16.0 points, 11.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game.

Allen is an absolute force inside the paint and is automatic once he gets open, as one of his playmakers will find him in the right spot.

If you try and challenge him at the rim as well, he will simply turn you away.

Don’t Sleep on Cade Cunningham

Cade Cunningham may only be a rookie, but he already has the makings of a professional with his demeanor and skillset on the court.

In the three games before the All-Star break, the young phenom was averaging 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game.

Cunningham can use his size and ability to shoot to beat you in so many different ways. He’s got a very bright future in this league.

Cavs Win

The Pistons have had some success against the Cavs this season, but if the Cavs hope to seriously establish themselves as one of the better teams in the league, this is a game they have to win.

They already lost two straight heading into the All-Star break, but a third straight loss and one to the Pistons would really hurt morale around the team.

The Cavs have largely demonstrated an ability to take care of business when they need to, however, so expect them to win and cover the spread.
