Cleveland Cavaliers vs Golden State Warriors Betting Preview
The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently 22-17, as they're coming off a win over the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Golden State Warriors, on the other hand, are 29-9 and are coming off back-to-back losses, which is a rarity for them.
Betting Odds & Lines
The spread for Sunday night is set at GSW -9. The over/under is sitting at 217.5 points.
Darius Garland Looking Good as Ever
Darius Garland has looked great in his two games back in the lineup after an extended absence, as he's averaging 26.5 points and 8.0 assists across those two games.
His 3-point shot wasn't the sharpest in his first game back, but he flipped the script on Friday night, going 5-of-8 from downtown.
He has also maximized the absolute best out of Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen by getting them looks at the rim or in the mid-range, as over 68 percent of his assists in those two games have gone to that pair.
Garland is a high IQ basketball player, as he knows where to get his shots off at the right time while orchestrating the offense and getting his teammates in the right spots.
Evan Mobley on a Tear
Evan Mobley has been on an absolute tear recently, as he's averaging 19.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game over his last six games.
His 3-point shooting hasn't been sharp, but he's been a maestro in the mid-range and close to the basket, as he's shooting over 73 percent within 10 feet of the basket on nearly nine attempts per game during that stretch.
He has great footwork and great touch around the rim and shooting mechanics. The sky's the limit for him.
Klay Thompson Returns
Klay Thompson will finally be returning to the floor after missing the last two and a half seasons, as he went down with a torn ACL injury during the 2019 NBA Finals and then suffered an Achilles tear in November 2020.
It's been a tough few years for Thompson, but it's great to see how he's been able to overcome those obstacles and put himself in a position to return to the court.
With the Warriors in prime position to win a championship, adding his 3-point shooting and defense next to Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Andrew Wiggins and crew will be a huge boost.
Warriors Win
This game will take place in The Bay, and Curry is expected to return for this one after missing his last game due to a quad injury.
Thompson will likely show a little bit of rust, but he'll still be capable of knocking down some open 3-pointers that the Warriors' offense will be sure to generate for him.
With them losing two straight, expect them to also come out with more aggression, as they absolutely do not want to lose any ground in their efforts to earn the league's best record.
The Warriors should be able to win this one and cover the spread.
