Both the Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves have been among the surprises of the NBA season thus far, as both teams are looking to punch their ticket to the playoffs for the first time since 2018.

The Cavs have been led by first-time All-Stars Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen all season long but have also gotten major contributions from potential Rookie of the Year Evan Mobley and their mix of veterans and young players.

The Timberwolves are led by Karl-Anthony Towns, who many argue should be more heavily featured in the conversation for league MVP. D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards have also lived up to their roles as the co-stars to KAT.

Betting Odds & Lines

The spread for Monday night is set at MIN -1. The over/under is sitting at 209 points

Cavs Coming Off Big Win

The Cavs are coming off a huge win over the Washington Wizards, as they snapped a three-game losing streak.

Lauri Markkanen stepped up and provided the scoring punch for the Cavs, finishing with 23 points to go along with six rebounds.

Jarrett Allen provided 18 points, 14 rebounds, and three steals. Evan Mobley chipped in with 14 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.

Cedi Osman had 19 points, five assists, and four rebounds off the bench.

Cavs Players to Look Out For

Darius Garland remains out, as does Caris LeVert and Rajon Rondo, so there is still a hole at the point guard position for Cleveland.

However, Brandon Goodwin has done his part to soften the blow, as he finished with eight points and six assists his last time out. Osman also helped out in the playmaking department.

It’s going to be up to them and Allen and Mobley to put up good performances if the Cavs hope to win this game.

Watch Out for Karl-Anthony Towns

Karl-Anthony Towns is playing arguably the best basketball of his career, as he is averaging 24.4 points on nearly 52 percent shooting, including 40.9 percent on 3-pointers to go along with 9.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.

Towns has been in the headlines for saying he’s the greatest shooting big man of all time, but to his credit, he has backed that notion up with winning the 3-point contest and by the numbers he posts on a nightly basis.

As previously mentioned, his name should be featured more in the MVP conversation, as his leadership has the Timberwolves in a great position to make the playoffs.

His ability to score the basketball via drives to the rim, posting up defenders, and shooting the three makes him impossible to guard. The Cavs will have their hands full in trying to stop KAT.

Timberwolves Win

While the Cavs are coming off a win, they’re still trending in the wrong direction with injuries and took down another team facing their own issues.

The Timberwolves, meanwhile, have largely taken care of business recently and have earned wins against solid teams.

With that being said, the Timberwolves should easily be able to win this game and cover.
