Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers drops back to pass against Eagles

On Sunday Night Football this week, the Green Bay Packers will visit the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field to close out the Sunday slate for Week 12 in the NFL. Both of these teams were expected to be among the elite in the NFC, but only the Eagles have lived up to that standard through the first 11 weeks of the season.

Here, the Eagles are touchdown favorites at home, as they look to remain at the top of the conference standings for another week.

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers have lost six of their last seven games, and have dropped to 4-7 on the season. Their most recent defeat came at the hands of the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football last week, where the defense of the Packers let them down in a huge way.

Green Bay gave up over 300 passing yards to Ryan Tannehill, and the Packers will have to be better on defense against Jalen Hurts and the Eagles here.

Green Bay needs to be better offensively as well if they want to get back into the win column in an attempt to save their season.

The Packers have scored over 21 points just once in their last six games, with that coming in their overtime comeback win against the Dallas Cowboys. Aaron Rodgers has been consistently off this season, with rumors of a broken thumb causing him problems throughout the year.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles have gone through a rough patch over the last couple of weeks, yet they managed to split the two games in which they have played poorly.

They lost for the first time this season two games ago against the Washington Commanders, before coming back to beat the Indianapolis Colts last week. Philadelphia will look to reclaim its positive form in this game against the struggling Packers.

For the Eagles, that will mean finding a way to take Aaron Rodgers’ top receiving weapon away throughout this game.

Christian Watson has come on strong for the Packers over the last few weeks, scoring five touchdowns in the last two weeks. If Philadelphia can take him out of the equation, Rodgers will have to rely on other inexperienced receivers who have not had nearly as much success.

Keys To The Game

The biggest key to this game for the Packers is going to be containing Jalen Hurts both through the air and on the ground.

Having to commit a defender to making sure that Hurts does not scramble is a tough choice to make, as it can open up additional passing lanes down the field.

But, if the Packers do not do that, they could leave themselves open to one of the league’s best rushing quarterbacks scrambling all over them.

For the Eagles, pressuring the quarterback is going to determine whether or not this game goes smoothly for them. Putting bodies in the face of Aaron Rodgers will force him to rush throws or take sacks, which will mean an even less accurate performance than usual from the Green Bay signal caller.

It will also provide less time for Rodgers to hit throws down the field, which often bail him out when his team is not at its best.
