Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley Fight To Be Held at Cleveland's Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse
Internet superstar turned combat sports "star" Jake Paul will fight former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in a main event boxing match at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Paul's hometown of Cleveland, Ohio on Aug. 29.
The fight will be a Showtime PPV broadcast and will be fought at 190 pounds.Â
Paul and his brother, Logan, are no strangers to the world of combat sports. Jake is recently coming off a pair of KO wins against former NBA player Nate Robinson and MMA fighter Ben Askren while Logan recently went the distance with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition bout.Â
Woodley will be making his pro boxing debut after a very successful run in the UFC which saw him defeat Robbie Lawler in 2016 to win the UFC Welterweight championship. He would go on to defend his title four times before losing to Kamaru Usman in 2019. Since his last victory in 2018, Woodley is riding a four-fight losing streak. As a professional MMA fighter, Woodley holds a career record of 19-7-1.
Paul and his brother both became internet celebrities on the famous and now shut down Vine app. From there, the Westlake, Ohio natives have become mainstays in the world of internet stardom. While both the Pauls have had their share of controversy, their worldwide fame has certainly helped them in their combat sports careers.Â
Tickets will go on sale Thursday, July 22, more information including press conferences and COVID-19 guidelines will become available as we get closer to the fight.Â
