Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers Thursday Night Football Bet Preview
The top two teams in the AFC West will battle on Thursday Night Football to kick off Week 15 of the season. There, the Kansas City Chiefs face the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium, in a game that could all but decide the fate of the AFC West championship this season. Kansas City enters as a three-point favorite, as they look to build a two-game cushion over the Chargers in the division standings, while the Chargers look to pull even with the Chiefs after this game.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs picked up their sixth straight win last week, battering the Las Vegas Raiders to move to 8-5 on the year. In their 48-9 destruction of the Raiders, the Chiefs scored on defense for the second straight game against a division opponent, running back a Josh Jacobs fumble to open the scoring and set the tone. Here, the Chiefs will look to make things difficult on Justin Herbert and a Chargers offense that can be a threat.
While Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' offense typically commands plenty of attention, the defense of the Chiefs has been the star of the show. Kansas City has held three straight opponents to single digits on the scoreboard, with four of their Chiefs’ last five games seeing them pull off that feat. Another single-digit defense performance is unlikely here, but Kansas City has been known to make the unlikely look easy before.

Los Angeles Chargers
The LA Chargers crushed the New York Giants last week, taking advantage of the Giants relying on their backup quarterback in Mike Glennon. While the final score of the game was 37-21, the Giants needed multiple scores in garbage time to even get that close. This week, the Chargers know that they will be tested more on defense against a Chiefs offense that has the potential to put up points in bunches.
For the Chargers, the offense has been the key to their success lately, with the team scoring 37 or more points in three of their last four games. Though Kansas City has been playing well on defense, the Chiefs still have one of the worst yards per play figures on defense in the league this season. Justin Herbert will need to avoid turnovers to take advantage of that fact come Thursday night.
Keys To The Game
Kansas City’s biggest key to this game will be generating pressure on Justin Herbert. It is no secret that the Chargers’ preferred mode of transportation on offense is their passing game. Putting pressure on Herbert will make things easier on the Chiefs’ defensive backs and help them get more stops over the course of this game.
On the Los Angeles side, the main key to this game is going to be putting up points. The Chiefs have been improving offensively and on the scoreboard as a whole over the last few weeks. Herbert and the Chargers will need to proactively put points on the board early and often to avoid a situation where they are forced to throw all game to make up ground.
