On the surface, the 2022 NFL Draft doesn’t have a “can’t-miss” quarterback prospect. However, Kenny Pickett has no shortage of support in his corner.

Pickett’s huge senior year helped him become one of this year’s top QB prospects. Along with Liberty’s Malik Willis, the Pittsburgh product is all-but-guaranteed to go inside the first round this Thursday in Las Vegas.

However, several questions persist regarding the 23-year-old, including his draft selection and future NFL home. Let’s look at a few bets concerning Pickett leading up to draft day.

Kenny Pickett Draft Position O/U 16.5

There are several QB-hungry teams in a position to select Pickett early in the first round. The Detroit Lions (No. 2), Carolina Panthers (No. 6), Atlanta Falcons (No. 8), and Seattle Seahawks (No. 9) could all go after the Pitt QB with their first pick. Also, the New Orleans Saints might like the senior enough to take him 16th overall.

However, Pickett is just +102 to go Under 16.5 on Thursday. Meanwhile, he’s -132 to hear his name after the 16th pick.

Even though the clubs mentioned above all need QBs at some point, Pickett isn’t a better prospect than the other prospects on the board. Therefore, his best hope is for a team like the Saints or Pittsburgh Steelers to trade up for him. Of course, there’s no guarantee that either club will feel the need to do so, especially if they prefer Willis or another QB.

Those teams could still draft Pickett, especially a team like Seattle or Carolina, should they trade down a few slots. But the draft’s most NFL-ready QB may be a mid-to-late-first-rounder.

Team to Draft Kenny Pickett

With picks 16 and 19, the Saints have several options on draft day. They could sit where they are and select two solid prospects, move one of those picks a few spots up or down, or even package both picks to catapult up the draft board.

Thanks to the numerous possibilities at its disposal, New Orleans is currently the betting favorite for Pickett.

The New Jersey native is +200 to relocate to the Bayou and join the new-look Saints. The Steelers aren’t far behind at +250, followed closely by the Panthers at +300. For what it’s worth, Pickett initially committed to Temple, who at the time was led by Carolina coach Matt Rhule.

Besides the three favorites, the Falcons and Seahawks each hold +700 odds to land the intriguing signal-caller. If there was a longshot worth considering, the Houston Texans also have the 13th pick after their No. 3 selection, yet they’re still a whopping +4000 to draft Pickett.

First QB Selected (+170)

Pickett’s breakout senior year made him the top QB prospect early in the draft process. In addition, his extensive college career (48 games in the last four years) makes him the draft’s most “pro-ready” signal-caller.

Yet, with questions about his hand size and overall ceiling, Pickett has taken a backseat to Willis in recent weeks. The 23-year-old is +170 to be the first quarterback selected, while the Liberty star is -190.

Even though most pundits believe Willis has a higher upside, that doesn’t necessarily mean NFL teams agree. Pickett still possesses prototypical size (6-foot-3, 217 lbs.) with above-average accuracy and an elite football IQ. It also helps that he’s more equipped to help now than a year or two from now.

Even though he’s the underdog, Pickett is still one of the two QBs guaranteed to go early. Taking this bet means you only need one team to prefer him over Willis.
