NBA Daily Betting Guide: NBA Best Bets for January 21, 2022
Ten games to start off your weekend in the NBA, lots of close spreads from the looks of it.
Let's hop into betJACK's Daily NBA Betting Guide!
Los Angeles Clippers @ Philadelphia 76ers (7 p.m.)
Favored Team and Spread: PHI -8.5
Total Points: 213
Two beaten up teams with a different story meet up in the City of Brotherly Love tonight. The Sixers are 8.5 point favorites over the Clippers and through Ben Simmons headlines and all, they look good! Philadelphia are 8-2 ATS (Against The Spread) in their last 10 games and 7-3 overall, this is something that's indicative of a team within its identity and I think Philly will keep the ball rolling on tonight. I'll take the under and the 76ers to win and cover.
Los Angeles Lakers @ Orlando Magic (7 p.m.)
Favored Team and Spread: LAL -5
Total Points: 218.5
For King James' standard, this isn't good but he and the Los Angeles Lakers don't have to look far to see worse. They play the worst team in the league tonight in the Orlando Magic. This should be an easy win and cover for the purple and gold considering that Orlando is injured to outer reaches of space and back but the Lakers are also without some massive firepower in Anthony Davis which hurts a lot. Orlando will fight though, they're 6-3-1 Against The Spread (ATS for short) though they are 4-6 in their last ten games. I'll take LA and the points though.
Oklahoma City Thunder @ Charlotte Hornets (7 p.m.)
Favored Team and Spread: CHA -9
Total Points: 224
The Thunder look to storm the swarm in Charlotte as they take on the Hornets. The Thunder haven't quite been able to put it all together just yet. They're getting closer to having full strength in terms of numbers and that will hopefully give them some positive momentum. On the other you have a Hornets team that's is fully in its element, if you saw the Jamal Crawford-esque lob LaMelo Ball pulled off mid game, you know where this team is at. They're about ready to get the ball rolling in a big way, that starts tonight.
Miami Heat @ Atlanta Hawks (7:30 p.m.)
Favored Team and Spread: ATL -1.5
Total Points: 219.5
Here's your first juicy spread alert tonight. Miami takes on Atlanta in Atlanta which gives the Hawks an advantage of 1.5 points (ATL -1.5 is what the sports books would look like). It's going to be a gritty matchup and this is going to come down to the last possession. I am tempted to take Miami but I think ultimately "Ice Trae" will strut his stuff for the home audience and Atlanta will escape with much needed win against the second seed in the East.
Portland Trail Blazers @ Boston Celtics (7:30 p.m.)
Favored Team and Spread: BOS -9
Total Points: 212
Portland has been on massive since they are missing all of their stars. Lillard, Nance Jr., and McCollum in the last ten games have all missed significant time. McCollum is back but he is also working his way up to game speed so he's a work in progress. This is how the Celtics can expose the lack of depth of Portland and use it to pull away early and coast to a much needed win as the Celtics stand at 23-23 currently. On Boston's side, I'm asking similar questions. I see Marcus Smart is questionable for tonight's contest but getting him back would be enormous for a team that has quite frankly relied on him for a lot and he's respondedin kind by becoming an elite talent. The East better keep a look out for Boston because they are never dead.
Chicago Bulls @ Milwaukee Bucks (8 p.m., ESPN)
Favored Team and Spread: MIL -10.5
Total Points: 227.5
Can't ask for a better matchup here. Two of the best teams in the East are set to do battle in Milwaukee on ESPN. I think the spread here gets easily covered by Chicago, you can't simply have them as +10.5 point dogs. That's straight up disrespect from Vegas for a team who pulled away from the Cavs with ease late in the fourth on Wednesday night. Ultimately, Milwaukee will win, but not by 10 or more. Go with Chicago to cover.
Toronto Raptors @ Washington Wizards (8 p.m.)
Favored Team and Spread: WAS -1
Total Points: 219
This is another game with a juicy spread. Just a singular point diffentiates the two teams as Washington is the listed as the slim favorite. Usually when you see a spread this in basketball, you know Vegas doesn't really where this game will shake out but they know that it will be a very close game.

Brooklyn Nets @ San Antonio Spurs (8:30 p.m.)
Favored Team and Spread: BKN -1
Total Points: 232.5
This is a game where a "push" is predicted. For those new to the term push in the world of betting, a push is where the spread "hits." For example Brooklyn wins by one point to hit that number exactly. In this situation, you would get your bet returned. If I put $1000 down, I would get my $1000 back. I wouldn't lose but I wouldn't win either. Now do I think a push will happen? No, I think Brooklyn will end up winning by a lot more than just one. They do have Kyrie for this game which will prove vital in the closing stages of the game.
Detroit Pistons @ Utah Jazz (9 p.m.)
Favored Team and Spread: UTAH -14
Total Points: 218
Can't say too much about this one. This is a clunker. The Pistons who have looked putrid to say the least travel to Salt Lake City to take on a far superior Jazz squad. This is some where I take the Jazz to cover the spread and dare Detroit to try and cover it, I have little faith in the Pistons and I'll let it show.
Memphis Grizzlies @ Denver Nuggets (9 p.m.)
Favored Team and Spread: DEN -3.5
Total Points: 224.5
This is a game where I like my chances to win much more, there's only two outcomes you can get here, no pushes. Memphis had one of hottest stretches of basketball in the recent weeks winning 11 in a row at one point, I think that team is the real deal and even though they are in Denver at altitude, I like Memphis in this game to win and cover. I love what Ja Morant has done this season and I continue to look for him to do big things and I hope to see him here in The Land for All Star Weekend.
Houston Rockets @ Golden State Warriors (10 p.m.)
Favored Team and Spread: GSW -10.5
Total Points: 228.5
The last game of the night is a bit of a rough one to end on all things considered. The Warriors look good at 32-13 with Klay Thompson back in the fold, which after two years off injuries is good for Klay and will potentially make for a really deserving storyline for Comeback Player of the Year. I do like Golden State in this matchup to win and I'll even take them to cover which is a bold play. Let's see if it pays off.
