Three NFL Free Agents The Cleveland Browns Could Still Sign

The NFL season is just over one week away. With roster cuts winding down around the league, here's a few players the Browns should look into before their 2021 campaign.

DT Geno Atkins

Atkins is familiar with the state of Ohio and would be a tremendous help to the Browns, whether as a featured starter or as a rotational piece, following a labrum tear in 2020. The longtime Bengal recorded 75.5 sacks in his first 10 seasons and is one of the most dominant interior linemen in the NFL. Normally, he would demand a hefty fee, but his age (32) and recent injury would help Cleveland get him for cheap on a one-year deal.

LB K.J. Wright

It is not fair to say that there is a true weakness on the Browns’ roster, but the closest facsimile of one would be linebacker; bringing in Wright would give the team a Super Bowl winner that is one of the best players in his position and can lead a defense. Wright has recorded over 100 tackles in five of his last seven seasons and would be an asset behind a hellacious defensive line.

K Michael Badgley

Just released from the Los Angeles Chargers, Badgley could provide Cleveland with a renewed competition with Chase McLaughlin. In his three seasons, Badgley is 80 percent on field goal attempts.

The Chargers have been notrious for releasing good, young kickers, letting go of Josh Lambo and Younghoe Koo, two players who are still in the league. At just 26 years old, "The Money Badger" could be worth a look in Cleveland.
