Week 12 Monday Night Football Betting Preview: Seattle Seahawks vs. Washington Football Team

The Seattle Seahawks and Washington Football Team both come into their Monday Night Football matchup with losing records. But both teams have an opportunity to pick up a much-needed victory, with Seattle being favored by a point ahead of this crucial clash.

But in order to pick up a win, the Seahawks will need to slow down a suddenly surging Washington offense while picking up the pace on offense themselves.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks have lost five of their last six games to drop to 3-7 on the year. In their last two games since getting Russell Wilson back from a finger injury, the Seahawks have been defeated by the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals. Seattle has scored just 13 points in those two games, as they have not performed the way they were expected to with Wilson back in the huddle.

In this contest, the Seahawks will face the worst team they have played since the return of Russell Wilson. This will serve as a huge test for Russell Wilson and the Seattle offense, as Washington has been carved up by the likes of Daniel Jones and Jameis Winston earlier in the year. If Seattle can’t get its offense up and running in this spot, they may be in for a full-on rebuild in the near future.

Washington Football Team

The Washington Football team, to their credit, is hitting its stride late in the season. They have won two games in a row, beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers to move to 4-6 on the season. They are still out of a Wild Card position in the NFC but have at least created some hope for themselves heading into the final six weeks of the NFL season.

In this game, the Football Team will look to put together a third straight game of quality offensive production. Washington has scored 28 points per game over their last two outings after failing to break 14 points in any of their previous three contests. If Washington can continue to get solid play from Taylor Heinicke without any turnover issues, they could come up with a third straight win as an underdog.

Keys To The Game

The biggest key to this game for the Seattle Seahawks is their defense. While the focus of this game is understandably on Russell Wilson, the Seahawks won’t have much of a chance anyway unless they can get stops against the Washington Football Team. Seattle hasn’t allowed 25 points over their last five games and will need to hold Washington in check to give themselves an opportunity here.

For Washington, meanwhile, the main key to winning this game as an underdog will be to defend the duo of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Seattle is at its most dangerous when it is able to complete passes down the field to Metcalf and Lockett. It will be up to Washington’s secondary to prevent that from happening while their pass rush struggles to generate pressure due to injuries to players like Chase Young and Montez Sweat.
