Cleveland Guardians' Josh Naylor celebrates home run vs. New York Yankees

After failing to clinch a spot in the ALCS at home on Sunday night, the Cleveland Guardians will head back to New York to take on the Yankees in a game five win-or-go-home battle.

The Guardians lost last night 4-2 in their attempt to win the series at home. The long ball hurt them again, as the Yankees continue to only do their damage on home runs, ultimately leading them to victory.

Tonight, it will be up to Aaron Civale to keep the Yankees in the ballpark and limit the damage. While Civale may seem like a less-than ideal win-or-go-home starter, he's the only option for the Guardians.

That said, he will most likely have a shorter leash tonight, and it will be all hands on deck as they are in desperation mode with their season being on the line. Lifetime vs. the Yankees, Civale is 1-3 with an ERA of 4.78.

For the Yankees, Jameson Taillon will get the start. Although he can stretch out games in a way a starter can, it will most likely be a bullpen game for the Yankees, which could ultimately favor the Guardians.

Taillon gave up two runs in Game 2 without recording an out, so the Guardians should be licking their chops at the thought of getting to face Taillon again tonight.

Lifetime vs. the Guardians, Taillon is 1-2 with a 3.94 ERA.

Betting Odds

According to betJACK, the Guardians will enter the game as slight underdogs, as they will be (+133) on the moneyline. The Yankees, as favorites, have moneyline odds of (-157).

The over/under is set at seven in terms of runs. Due to the fact that the pitching in this game won't be what it has been so far, you could see the over hit in this one.

No matter what tonight's matchup has in store, the season has been a massive victory. With the Yankees apparently having some travel issues after last nights game, could the Guardians take advantage of the jet-lagged Yankees and move on to the ALCS?
