Minnesota Twins vs. Cleveland Guardians June 30 Betting Preview & Picks

After winning in dramatic come-from-behind fashion on Wednesday, the Cleveland Guardians (38-34) will look for the series win as they host the Minnesota Twins (43-35) on Thursday. The Guardians will host this one at Progressive Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 1:10 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Guardians won 7-6 in extra innings. After being tied at three apiece through the first nine innings, the Twins scored three in the top of the 10th. Down to their last out in the game, Josh Naylor delivered a walk-off home run for the Guardians.

The first two hitters in the Guardians’ lineup were also fantastic as Steven Kwan and Amed Rosario went a combined seven for eight with five runs scored.

Offensively, the Twins’ offense clubbed three home runs including the first of the season for Alex Kirilloff. In total, Kirilloff went three for four with two runs batted in.

Pitching Matchup

Minnesota will send righty Chris Archer to the mound in the finale. This season, he is 2-3 with a 3.14 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and has 45 strikeouts in 57.1 innings. He won his last start after giving up just one hit and no runs in five innings against the Rockies.

Cleveland will counter with ace Shane Bieber. In 14 games this season, Bieber is 3-4 with a 3.07 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and has 88 strikeouts in 85 innings of work. In his last three starts combined, he has given up eight runs in 20 innings while striking out 20.

Twins Try To Regroup

Especially after putting up three runs in the top of the 10th, Wednesday’s blown game is the type that can be tough for a team to bounce back from. For the Twins, they will look to do exactly that as they play their final game on the road before heading back to Target Field. This year, they are 20-18 on the road.

Against Shane Bieber, there are a handful of players that have had some success. The two most notable, though, are Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa. Buxton is hitting .300 in 10 at bats with a home run while Correa is two for six with a home run.

Aside from these two, Ryan Jeffers and Gio Urshela have also homered off of the righty while Luis Arraez is hitting .300 in 20 at bats.

Cleveland Looks To Ride Wednesday’s Comeback Into Series Win

Coming back to win Wednesday’s game was huge for the Cleveland Guardians as they now sit just two games back of the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central. On Thursday, they will look to ride that momentum behind their ace Shane Bieber to a series win.

Despite going just one for five Wednesday, Jose Ramirez continues to lead this team offensively. He is hitting .297/.380/.602 with 16 home runs, 63 runs batted in, 45 runs, and 12 stolen bases in 266 at bats.

Ramirez has also had success off of Archer in his career. In 12 career at bats against the righty, he is hitting .417 with a home run and two runs batted in.

Amed Rosario is the only other Guardians’ hitter with a hit off of Archer. He is two for five with a run batted in against the righty in his career.

Guardians Have Prime Opportunity To Win Series

Late Wednesday night, it appeared as if the Guardians would have to settle for trying to win two games in the series. After Naylor’s dramatic home run, they all of the sudden will try to win a series against the division-leading Twins for the second time in two weeks.

For Cleveland, there is no better person to be toeing the rubber in the finale than Shane Bieber. In his last seven games, he is 2-2 with a 2.53 ERA, and he will look to keep that production up against the Twins.

If Cleveland can get to Archer for at least a few runs, they should be in a great spot to win this series Thursday ahead of their weekend series with the Yankees.
