There are just five NCAA basketball games on the schedule for Sunday, and one of the best games will take place in the American Athletic Conference (AAC). The Memphis Tigers are set to square off against the Houston Cougars in the third meeting between the schools this season.

Memphis has won both of the regular season games against Houston, and the Tigers are entering this game with a ton of momentum. The Tigers have now won six straight games, and they look like a team that can make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

Houston comes into this game with a record of 28-5, and the Cougars just continue to rack up the wins. This team was in the Final Four a season ago, and they will be a popular bet to make a return appearance this season.

The Houston Cougars are 3.5 point betting favorites over the Memphis Tigers in the AAC Championship Game.

Memphis Making Some Shots

The Memphis Tigers really struggled to begin the season, playing to the tune of 5-4 through their first nine games. This was a team that just couldn’t figure out how to score. Now, Memphis has been lighting it up from deep of late, and they are now averaging over 76 points per game.

It is center Jalen Duren that leads the team with 12 points per game, and he will have to be a key player in this matchup. Houston will look to keep the ball away from the paint, and Memphis will have to make plenty of shots from deep.

The Tigers average over eight steals per game on the year, and that defense has been frustrating to Houston in the previous matchups. Look for Memphis to ramp up the defensive pressure on Sunday in an attempt to get a win.

Houston Hounding Opposing Offenses

Houston nearly won a national championship a season ago because of the defense, and that style of play should suit them well on Sunday. The Cougars are allowing less than 59 points per game this season, and they can lock up any opponent.

Turnovers have been an issue at times for the Cougars, especially in the games against the Tigers. Houston is scoring nearly 76 points per game, but they usually get plenty of points from their defense.

Guard Kyler Edwards is the new offensive star for the Cougars as he leads the team with over 13 points per game. Houston is the deepest team in the AAC, and that depth will come into play on Sunday.

Houston Has No Trouble on Sunday

Memphis has found a way to frustrate Houston all season long, but things tend to go a bit differently when there is a championship involved. This Memphis team is playing its best basketball of the season, but there are still some real flaws with this team.

The Cougars are an elite defensive team, and it’s going to take some great work on the defensive end of the floor to win this game. The three-point shooting from Memphis is not going to be reliable on Sunday, and it’s hard to see the Tigers getting enough stops to come away with a win.

Bet the Houston Cougars -3.5 as they get some revenge on Memphis to win the American Athletic Conference title on Sunday.
