Duke Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski speaks the crowd following his last game at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) will begin the conference tournament this week, and this is always one of the most exciting events of championship week. This league has really struggled this season, and there might only be 3-4 teams that reach the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

There are going to be some big upsets throughout the country this week, but this is a league that looks to have a clear favorite. With so much parity throughout the league, don’t be surprised to see an underdog team turn some heads.

Duke A Massive Favorite

The Duke Blue Devils just suffered a loss to North Carolina in the regular-season finale, but they are still the massive favorites to win the conference. Duke currently has odds set at EVEN (also seen as 1/1 OR +100) before the tournament begins, and you won’t see those odds in any of the other major conferences.

This is the final season for head coach Mike Kryzeswki, and it might end up being one of the best of his career. Duke already won the regular-season crown and will now look to add a tournament championship as well.

Freshman phenom Paolo Banchero leads the way for the Blue Devils, and he has been a nightmare for opposing teams. This Duke team can be beaten, but it’s going to take a great effort from an opponent to get it done.

Four Legitimate Challengers

If Duke is not able to win the ACC Tournament, then there are four teams that will likely get the job done. There are also some great betting odds for these teams as most expect Duke to win the title.

The four biggest challengers to Duke and their odds are:

Wake Forest Demon Deacons +650

Notre Dame Fighting Irish +800

North Carolina Tar Heels +900

Virginia Tech Hokies +1200

North Carolina just went to Duke and upset the Blue Devils, and that will give them plenty of momentum and confidence heading into the tournament. The odds for North Carolina are +900, and that would return a pretty nice payout.

Virginia Tech plays terrific defense, and that could allow them to win the ACC Tournament. Wake Forest and Notre Dame have been terrific as well, and they will be able to make a run at this.

If you aren’t going to bet on Duke, then you should be looking at the four teams from above.

Can Any Bottom Team Make a Run?

Here are the odds for the teams that are on the bottom of the odds list:

Miami Hurricanes +1200

Virginia Cavaliers +1800

Syracuse Orange +2500

Florida State Seminoles +5000

Louisville Cardinals +5000

Pittsburgh Panthers +10000

NC State Wolfpack +10000

Clemson Tigers +10000

Boston College Eagles +15000

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets +16000

All of these teams likely need to win the ACC Tournament to have any shot at the NCAA Tournament, and that will give them some motivation. Some of these teams were actually expected to be in the mix this season but just weren’t able to play well enough to keep pace.

If you are going to bet on a team from this list, then focusing on teams like Miami, Virginia, and Syracuse are the safest options.
