We have reached one of the best weekends of the college basketball season as conference champions are set to be crowned. Most people tend to focus on the NCAA Tournament, but this weekend provides plenty of excitement as well.

There is a loaded slate of games taking place all weekend long, with the largest number of games taking place on Friday. Teams will continue to be eliminated each day before many teams see their season end on Sunday.

The action on Friday will set the stage for what should be a terrific weekend of basketball. Here is a look at some of the best weekend bets to make in the sport of college basketball.

Big Ten Quarterfinals

The Big Ten quarterfinals begin on Friday, and that is the first time that the top four seeds will even take the floor. The Ohio State Buckeyes have already been eliminated after suffering an upset loss to the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Illinois takes on Indiana in the first game on Friday, and the Iowa Hawkeyes will face Rutgers in the second game. These two games seem easy to predict, and it will be the Fighting Illini and Hawkeyes that advance.

In the evening session, you should find at least one upset. The Michigan State Spartans are going to sneak past a beat-up Wisconsin team. Purdue should have little trouble with Penn State as the Boilermakers are set to advance.

MAC Title Game

The MAC Championship Game is set for Saturday, with the quarterfinal games taking place on Friday. It’s nice that this tournament is taking place in Cleveland, as all four of the remaining teams are from the state of Ohio.

Toledo faces Akron in the first semifinal game on Friday afternoon, and this looks like a game that the Rockets can control. The second game features Ohio taking on Kent State, which should be one of the best games of the day.

Kent State is a favorite over Ohio, but don’t be surprised to see the Bobcats come away with this one. That will set up a showdown between Toledo and Ohio in the title game, which should lead to a terrific matchup.

Toledo has been the best team in the MAC all season long, and they should be the betting pick in each of their games this weekend.

One Title Game Set

Some conferences take some time off between the semifinals and the final round, which is the case in the America East Conference. The title game is already set in that league, and it will be the UMBC Retrievers taking on the Vermont Catamounts in the title game on Saturday.

This game looks like an absolute mismatch on paper as UMBC was not supposed to be in this position. The Retrievers are just 18-13 on the year, while the Catamounts have lost just five games all year.

Vermont will win this game, but this is a great opportunity to take the points and bet on the underdog Retrievers to keep this game close.
