The 2022 MLB All-Star Game will be held at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, July 19, and the game’s brightest stars will be on the field. This event has been dominated by the American League in recent years, and the National League will try to turn things around.

The starters have been announced for each team, but the starting pitching matchup is not set. That matchup doesn’t usually mean a ton, as most starters are only going to be pitching an inning or two.

Stars Aplenty in the American League

Shohei Ohtani is the biggest star in baseball right now, and there is a chance that he could be making his second straight start on the mound. Ohtani just continues to put up numbers never seen before, and he will be looking to put on a show.

Joining Ohtani on the AL pitching staff are players such as Justin Verlander, Shane McClanahan, and Gerrit Cole. Most people are going to talk about the AL lineup, but there are enough pitchers to shut the NL down.

If Ohtani isn’t able to win the MVP Award this season, then it will likely be Aaron Judge that does. Judge will be in the middle of the American League lineup, and he is able to hit the ball out of the park every time he steps up to the plate.

NL Roster Strong on Pitching

Even though there are some pretty big sluggers on the NL team, the main focus of that squad is on the pitching staff. Not only is that staff full of dominant starters, but there are lights-out pitchers in the bullpen as well.

Sandy Alcantara is putting up big numbers for the Miami Marlins this year, and he would have been a solid option to start the game. That honor has also gone to Clayton Kershaw, as he has an ERA right around 2.00 and has been terrific this season.

The NL West Division will be well represented in the NL starting lineup as there will be four players starting. This lineup has been hit hard by injury, though, as both Bryce Harper and Jazz Chisholm Jr. are not going to be able to suit up.

National League Wins With Pitching

It’s not going to be easy dealing with that American League lineup, but the NL pitching staff is loaded with talent. There are some real flamethrowers on the NL staff, and that will come in handy as those pitchers are able to miss some bats.

Don’t expect a very high-scoring affair as it’s just too difficult on the position players to do much damage on offense in this game. The AL has dominated the NL over the past decade, but things will start to shift in this one.

Take the National League -116 as they are finally able to get a win over the American League.
