Texas Rangers vs. Cleveland Guardians June 8 Betting Preview
The Texas Rangers (26-29) and Cleveland Guardians (25-26) will battle out in the rubber match of their three-game series on Wednesday. The Guardians will host this one at Progressive Field with first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
In Cleveland’s win, Cal Quantrill was brilliant, allowing three runs on eight hits over seven innings of work. Offensively, Amed Rosario led the way going three for five with a run scored.
Marcus Semien hit his fourth home run of the season, one of three hits for the shortstop, in Game 1, but the Rangers couldn’t make up for Jon Gray’s rough start. The righty allowed five runs in five innings.
In the nightcap, Taylor Hearn picked up the win for the Rangers going 5.2 innings, allowing three runs. Marcus Semien had another big game in this one going four for four with two solo home runs.

Pitching Matchup
The Rangers will send righty Dane Dunning to the mound Wednesday. This season, he is 1-3 with a 4.11 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and he has struck out 63 in 61.1 innings. In his last three starts, he has pitched 17.2 innings, allowing nine runs on 21 hits.
The Guardians will counter with ace Shane Bieber. In 10 games this season, he is 3-3 with a 3.12 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and has 62 strikeouts in 60.2 innings of work. He has won two games in a row, allowing just three earned runs in 15 innings of work over the two games.
Rangers Try To Move Above .500 On The Road
At 26-29, the Texas Rangers sit in third in the AL West, 9.5 games back of the Houston Astros. To this point, they have struggled more at home (13-16) than on the road (13-13). On Wednesday, they will try to both win the series and move above .500 on the road.
One name to keep an eye out in this one is Kole Calhoun. He is the only Ranger that has had even mild success against Bieber. In his career, he is two for nine with a home run and two runs batted in.
After Tuesday’s outburst, it is also hard to ignore Marcus Semien. He is now hitting .221/.280/.355 with six home runs, 22 runs batted in, 30 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases. He has the team lead in runs scored and is tied for the lead in stolen bases.
Guardians Trying To Win Third Series In A Row
Without a doubt, this is definitely a soft part of the Guardians schedule. Having won two series in a row, they will look to make it three in a row before taking on the Oakland A’s, who should be another winnable series.
First things first, though, they have to take care of the Rangers, and with Shane Bieber on the mound, they should have a good chance of doing exactly that.
Jose Ramirez continues to be the driving force in the Guardians’ offense. In 189 at bats, he is hitting .280/.386/.608 with a team-leading 14 home runs, 53 runs batted in, 33 runs scored, and eight stolen bases.
Ramirez has also had success against Dane Dunning in his career. Albeit in just four at bats, Ramirez has two hits including a home run and three runs batted in.
Cleveland In Good Spot To Secure Series Win
There are a lot of things to like about Cleveland in this matchup. First, Texas is just 4-9 in their last 13 games when playing at Progressive Field.
Furthermore, the Guardians have a red hot Shane Bieber toeing the rubber Wednesday. With wins in back-to-back starts, he will look to make it three in a row Wednesday.
Also, Dane Dunning is not exactly an intimidating presence on the mound opposite of the Guardians. While he has shown flashes of brilliance at times, he also has struggled with consistency as he has been hit around a bit too.
All in all, this is a great opportunity for the Guardians to pick up another series win, especially playing at home, where they are 12-9 this season.
