Duke (-17) vs. Jacksonville

The Blue Devils open their season tonight against Jacksonville out of the Atlantic Sun conference. Gone are the days of Coach K, who is being replaced by former Duke standout, Jon Scheyer. The Blue Devils are expected to have one of the top offenses in the country, led by the top two recruits in the country in Dereck Lively, II (#1 overall) and Dariq Whitehead (#2 overall).

Jacksonville was one of the better teams in the Atlantic Sun conference last year going 11-5 in conference play (21-10) overall. However, the Dolphins will be overmatched against this high-powered Duke team.

I expect Duke to push the ball up and down the floor. Give me Duke -17.

Score Prediciton: Duke 80, Jacksonville 58

Alabama vs. Longwood (Over 147.0)

The Crimson Tide also expect to be led by a high scoring offense and a quick tempo. Pomeroy has Alabama projected as a top 15 (#13) offense and a top five team in terms of adjusted tempo (#4).

The Longwood Lancers play at a much slower pace (#256 in adjusted tempo) but return almost 75 percent of their scoring from a season ago.

I expect Alabama to set the pace early in what should be a fun, opening night shootout. Give me the over 147.

Score Prediction: Alabama 84, Longwood 69

Santa Clara (-6.5) vs. Eastern Washington

Going to keep this one real simple. Santa Clara can score. Eastern Washington cannot stop you from scoring. Give me Santa Clara -6.5.

Score Prediction: Santa Clara 81, Eastern Washington 72
