On Monday Night Football in Week 9, the New Orleans Saints will host the Baltimore Ravens at Caesars Superdome.

The Ravens come into this contest on top of the AFC North, while the Saints can pull into a three-way tie in the NFC South with a victory. Both teams are capable of putting together explosive offensive performances on any given week, and the team that is best able to get their offense in gear here will have a huge advantage.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are 5-3 coming into this Monday night matchup, in what has been a strange season for the rivals of the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals. Baltimore has lost three times this year, with all three of those losses coming after blowing double-digit leads to their opponents.

This week, the Ravens will look to avoid blowing another double digit advantage as they take on the Saints.

So far this season, the Ravens have been an elite team on the road, going 3-1 away from M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Their lone loss on the road saw the Ravens take a 10-point fourth quarter lead against the New York Giants, only to give up two straight touchdowns down the stretch. Here, the Ravens will need to avoid letting the pass rush of the Saints put too much pressure on Lamar Jackson if they want to move to 4-1 on the road.

New Orleans Saints

For the New Orleans Saints, a 3-5 start is not what they may have wanted. But, a 3-5 start after so many injuries on offense could be seen as encouraging, especially with the struggles of the rest of the NFC South in mind.

This week, the Saints have a chance to move to 4-5 and have the same record as the NFC South-leading Buccaneers at the halfway point of the 2022 NFL season.

New Orleans will be without Michael Thomas again for this game, as he appears to be headed toward surgery.

That will put the burden on Chris Olave in the receiving game for the Saints, who has performed well in his rookie campaign despite plenty of his supporting cast not being available early in the year.

Alvin Kamara will also need to put together a special performance to prevent the Saints from having to rely too heavily on Andy Dalton.

Keys To The Game

Baltimore is a slight favorite coming into this game at the Superdome, and the biggest key for them will be on defense. We know that the Ravens can move the ball at will with Lamar Jackson and their running game. However, all of that is meaningless if they allow Kamara and Olave to have big games.

Of course, the key to this game for the Saints will be containing Lamar Jackson when the Ravens have the football.

When Jackson can break the pocket and make defenses decide between trying to tackle him or continuing to defend against the pass, Jackson is at his best. New Orleans has to prevent those situations to have a chance to win at home.
