Week 5 of the 2022 NFL season concludes with an AFC West matchup on Monday Night Football. The Kansas City Chiefs will play host to the Las Vegas Raiders in a matchup of the first-place and last-place teams in the division.

With the Chiefs dominating this matchup last season, the Raiders will look for a more respectable showing this time around to score an important victory, as the Chiefs enter Monday night as a seven-point favorite.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders scored their first win of the 2022 NFL season last week when they beat the Denver Broncos at home. While the Raiders sit at 1-3 on the season coming into this contest, they have been very competitive in all of their games so far.

Their point differential sits at -4 for the season thus far, as they have been within one possession in all three of their losses on the year.

Unfortunately for the Raiders, they were anything but competitive when they played against the Kansas City Chiefs last season. They allowed 89 points in the two games they played against the Chiefs during the 2021 campaign, including 48 in their last meeting in Kansas City.

Needless to say, the defense of the Raiders is going to have to be a lot better for them to have a chance to move to 2-3 in this matchup.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs enter this contest riding high, as they rebounded from their ugly Week 3 loss to the Colts with a blowout win over the Buccaneers in Week 4.

Patrick Mahomes and company put up 41 points against one of the top defensive teams in the NFL, with Mahomes demonstrating his ability to handle pressure throughout. This week, the Chiefs will look to beat a rival that they had the upper hand against a season ago to move to 4-1 on the young 2022 season.

Kansas City comes into this game with the fourth-best point differential in the NFL at +33, trailing only the Bills, Eagles, and 49ers in that department. To improve that mark, they will need to get their running game going again in this matchup.

Kansas City is a slightly above average team on the ground, averaging 117.0 rushing yards per game, and will need to keep moving the ball that way to provide enough variety to make Patrick Mahomes' life a little easier.

Keys To The Game

For the Raiders, the number one key to this game is to get pressure on Patrick Mahomes, unsurprisingly. As an underdog coming into this contest, the only way the Raiders are going to keep this game close is if they can limit the amount of time Mahomes has to throw.

If they cannot do that, routes will have more time to develop, and the Raiders' defense will be picked apart.

On the Chiefs' side, the top key to this game is pass defense, especially with Davante Adams being in the mix for the Raiders. Last season, Adams was not a part of the Las Vegas offense, and the Chiefs made quick work of Las Vegas in both games.

This time around, the Chiefs will have to neutralize arguably the top receiver in the sport if they are going to continue their run of dominance against their division foes.
