Boston Celtics Outlook

Jayson Tatum had a better showing in Game 2, as he put up 28 points on 8-of-19 shooting to go along with six rebounds and three assists.

Jaylen Brown was held in check after a great Game 1, finishing with just 17 points on 5-of-17 shooting. Al Horford looked far from his invincible self in Game 1, scoring just 2 points on 1-of-4 shooting. He didn’t even attempt a single 3-pointer.

Aside from Tatum, no one really showed up for Boston in Game 2, as they proved Draymond Green right in that this team won’t be making threes at the same rate as they were making them in Game 1.

It is a tad bit unrealistic to expect Horford to channel his inner Ray Allen on a game-to-game basis, but it doesn’t mean he couldn’t be more effective as a scorer in the paint.

The Celtics need to get back to playing their brand of basketball and not try and compete with the 3-point shooting Warriors. When the Celtics play at their pace, the Warriors tend to struggle.

Golden State Warriors Outlook

Stephen Curry put up another big game, finishing with 29 points on 9-of-21 shooting from the field to go along with six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Jordan Poole came off the bench to drop 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting, including a buzzer-beating three to end the third quarter near the halfcourt line. That shot all but served as the dagger in the game.

Klay Thompson struggled mightily in this one, as he had 11 points on a forgettable 4-of-19 shooting from the field. Andrew Wiggins was also kept in check, finishing with 12 points on 4-of-12 shooting.

Kevon Looney put in a well-rounded effort of 12 points, seven rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block. Draymond Green also provided nine points, seven assists, one steal and one block.

The Warriors go wherever Curry takes them. If Curry gets hot from three, it opens up the floor for all of his teammates to do some serious damage.

Curry will attract a double team no matter where he’s at on the court. But for the Warriors to truly succeed the rest of these Finals, they’re going to need more from Thompson and maybe a little more from Wiggins.

Game 3 NBA Finals Betting Pick: Celtics Win

In their first Finals home game in over a decade, the Celtics faithful will be sure to bring their passion to the arena with the players feeding off that energy.

With that said, expect better performances from Horford, Brown and Marcus Smart with Tatum also going off, which will lead to the Celtics winning and covering the spread.
