The Kent State Golden Flashes will wrap up their 2021 college football season in the state of Idaho. Kent State is set to take on the Wyoming Cowboys in Boise in the 2021 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

The Golden Flashes came into this game with an overall record of 7-6, and it was a very up and down season for this team. Kent State nearly won the MAC Championship this season, but they also lost a number of winnable games along the way.

Wyoming comes into this game with a record of 6-6 and the Cowboys have gone just 2-3 in their last five games. The Cowboys will have a bit of a home field advantage in this game though as they are much closer to Boise.

Kent State is a 3.5-point underdog in this matchup with the Wyoming Cowboys on Tuesday afternoon.

Kent State Must Get Stops

If Kent State is going to end their 2021 season with a victory then they are going to have to find a way to get some stops. The Golden Flashes are allowing over 35 points per game this season, but they are fortunate that they are not playing a great offensive team in this one.

When it comes to offense, Kent State will be looking to establish the run before doing anything else. The Golden Flashes average 243 rushing yards per game, but they are facing a Wyoming team that has been solid against the run.

Running back Marquez Cooper has been a star at times for Kent State as he has racked up 1,080 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the year.

Wyoming Not Playing Fast

Most college football programs are all about scoring points these days, but that is not how Wyoming goes about things. The Cowboys are scoring just 23.2 points per game, but they are also holding opponents to just 22.5 points per contest.

Quarterback play for Wyoming has been a challenge at times and Sean Chambers has just six touchdown passes to seven interceptions. Wyoming is going to take some shots on Tuesday afternoon and look for gaps in the weak Kent State defense.

The style of play that will be used by Wyoming has the potential to frustrate Kent State, and that will be the goal for the Cowboys.

Cowboys Cap Off Season With Win

This should be a tremendous matchup even if each team is coming into this game with six losses on the year. Kent State is going to be looking to put up some points while Wyoming wants to take control with it’s defense.

The fact that Wyoming has done a decent job of stopping the run this season will matter on Tuesday as that will slow down the Kent State attack. The Golden Flashes have been an explosive offensive team, but they really struggle to get some stops.

This should be a tight game throughout, but Wyoming is simply a better overall team. Take the Cowboys -3.5 as they win the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl by a touchdown.
