Mid-American Conference 2021 Football Betting Preview

The Mid-American Conference (MAC) continues to be one of the most exciting college football leagues in the country, and that should be the case yet again this season. Several teams from the state of Ohio should be in the mix to win the conference again this season, but this is always a league that is up for grabs.

Here is a look at the current betting odds to win the MAC Football Championship:

  • Toledo (+210)
  • Ball State (+440)
  • Ohio University (+500)
  • Buffalo (+550)
  • Western Michigan (+750)
  • Kent State (+1100)
  • Central Michigan (+1400)
  • Miami Ohio (1800)
  • Eastern Michigan (+4000)
  • Akron (+25000)
  • Bowling Green (+2500)

These odds will continue to change once the regular season begins, and this should be another season that is filled with upsets and surprises. Toledo and Ohio are two of the top teams in the MAC this season, and both teams should represent the state of Ohio well.

West Division is Loaded

The MAC is broken up into two divisions, and that is done geographically. It’s pretty clear that these divisions are not separated by strength teams, because the West Division is absolutely loaded with terrific teams.

Toledo is the betting favorite to win the MAC, and that also makes them the top pick to win the West. The Rockets do have some questions at the quarterback position, but the rest of the offense should be loaded.

Ball State is the defending MAC Conference champion, and they were doing the job with defense a season ago. The Cardinals were great at creating turnovers a season ago, and they will look to capitalize once again this season.

The winner between Toledo and Ball State and Toledo should have the inside track to win the conference, but don’t forget about Western and Central Michigan. Both of those schools are always tough to beat on their home turf and will provide a challenge for the top teams

This should be a division that sees plenty of offense, and there will be some high-scoring games. The defense of Ball State could prove to be a major difference, and that could allow the Cardinals to repeat as division champions.

East is Up For Grabs

The East Division appears to be a bit more wide-open this season, and this should be a division that is much more competitive. Ohio and Miami (Ohio) are the top teams in the East, and that rivalry could help decide who wins this division.

Ohio is a team that has been winning games with a solid defense, but they also need to find a way to be better offensively. The Bobcats have a new head coach in charge, but they have plenty of talent returning.

Miami (Ohio) won the MAC back in 2019, but this team was only able to play three games a season ago due to COVID-19. That will put the Redhawks in a difficult situation in 2021, but there is no doubt that this team still has plenty of talent.

Buffalo and Kent State could also be in the mix, but this division should be won by either Ohio or Miami. Look for the Bobcats to take control of the East Division.
