Mid American Conference Winner Future Betting Odds
The Mid-American Conference has taken on a life of its own when it comes to college football as the term “MACtion” has caught on with football fans. There is an entire day of the week dedicated to this league, and the 2022 season should be another entertaining and competitive year.
The betting odds are out for the MAC Championship, but it’s hard to really trust the pregame odds for this conference. Upsets tend to be the norm, but there are a pair of teams that look to be slightly better than the rest of the competition.
It’s pretty easy to break down the odds into three main categories and then place those teams in the appropriate spots.

Ohio Teams on Top
According to the current betting odds to win the MAC in 2022, it appears that it could be a good year for football teams from the state of Ohio. Toledo is the current betting favorite to win the MAC at +300, and Miami (Ohio) is right behind them at +375.
Both of these teams went 5-3 a season ago in conference action, and it is going to take a much better 2022 season to win the conference. Toledo is in the West Division, and Miami competes in the East Division of the MAC.
Northern Illinois and Central Michigan are the next two teams on the list, with odds set at +400 and +450, respectively. It shouldn’t be a surprise to see these two teams in the mix to win the MAC, as they have been in that position a lot in the past.
Crowded Group of Contenders
Before even discussing the rest of the teams in the MAC, here is a look at the odds for some of the top contenders heading into 2022:
Kent State (+900)
Western Michigan (+1200)
Buffalo (+1400)
Eastern Michigan (+1600)
Ohio (+2000)
These odds are about what you would expect when looking at preseason odds, as it’s not easy to handicap all of the teams in the conference. Kent State appears to be the closest to jumping into the pool of betting favorites, but the Golden Flashes still have work to do.
Ohio went just 3-5 a season ago, and that is a big reason that they have odds set at +2000 to win the conference in 2022. Western and Eastern Michigan always seem to be the types of teams that are able of beating anyone in the conference, but they aren’t always consistent with it.
Bottom of the League is Bad
Even though this league is known to feature some crazy upsets from time-to-time, there is a group of teams that don’t appear to have any real shot at winning the MAC Championship. The odds are pretty crowded all the way through Ohio, but then they really fall off for the final three teams.
Ball State (+6000)
Bowling Green (+10000)
Akron (+12500)
It would be a miracle to see these three teams even win a game or two in conference play, and they just don’t have the talent to factor into the conference race.
