Xavier Musketeers Odds and Betting Formats

In the American format, whole numbers are prefixed with a plus or minus, indicating an underdog or favorite, respectively. As the names suggest, the decimal format indicates using decimal values, and fractional odds use fractions.

Using the Xavier Musketeers and the Cincinnati Bearcats as an example, the odds offered by the sportsbook might look similar to the numbers in the table below.

Types of Xavier Musketeers Betting

Moneyline betting

If you’re new to betting and looking for a place to start, then moneyline bets might be the simplest option available to you. When you place a moneyline bet, you’re wagering your money on which team you think will win a certain game. Sounds simple enough, right? If you pick the Musketeers to win a game and they do, you win. The odds in the table above give you insight into the sort of numbers that you can expect to see if you’re about to place a moneyline bet.

Spreads

Spread bets differ from moneyline bets since the outcomes of these bets are not dependent on fixed outcomes like winning, losing, or drawing. Spread bets are determined using the margin of a result. Spread bets are more interesting because they increase your chances of winning big even if the odds are not in your favor.

Let’s consider an imaginary situation where the Musketeers are given a -11.5 spread against the Bearcats. If you’re going to bet on the Musketeers, they would have to win by a margin of 11.5 points or more. On the contrary, if you bet on the Bearcats to cover the spread, they would have to either win the game or lose by a margin of fewer than 11 points for you to win the bet.

Total score bets

Total score bets are also known as over/under bets. In this form of betting, you are essentially betting on the aggregate score of a match. In a total score bet, the sportsbook will determine a score aggregate. As the bettor, you won’t be betting on the exact number of points that you think will be scored by the end of the match. Instead, you will place a bet on whether or not you think the total aggregate of points will fall short of or exceed the points that the sportsbook predicts.

Futures and outright bets

An outright bet is a long-term bet that you place before the season even begins, where you predict which team will win the championship. If you’re a Musketeers fan, you’ll probably be gunning for them to win big. With numerous championship wins under their belts, the Musketeers have good odds when it comes to outright bets.

In a futures bet, you get to place bets on fixed outcomes on various events that will take place during the season. Some examples of futures bets are who the MVP of a season will be, which teams qualify for the semis, which team will win a particular conference, and so on. If you can single out an outcome that might take place over the season, you can most likely bet on it.

Prop bets

Prop bets are generally reserved for more experienced bettors who have become well acquainted with patterns in the events that unfold during a game. Prop bets don’t take place on game results or over the course of a season but are instead placed live as a game unfolds. Prop bets can be extremely specific, for example, whether or not a certain player will make a 3-point shot, the number of assists, the number of fouls, and more.
