The Masters has come and gone, and all eyes now shift their focus to Hilton Head Island for the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Link Golf Links course. The tournament is the only PGA Tour event held in the state of South Carolina.

Playing as a par-71 with a distance of 7,121 yards, the RBC Heritage has a current field of 135 players. Webb Simpson is the defending champion, shooting -22 when the event was held in June last year.

The Course

This track is a Pete Dye design that runs shorter than your average PGA Tour event. What it lacks in length, it makes up for in difficulty, with tree-lined fairways and small greens. Another factor is the course’s location near the coast, presenting a unique challenge if winds are up.

If the wind is down, the players can attack the pins with precision. Last season the course ranked fifth-lowest in scoring relative to par. Players with excellent ball-striking during the week will have minor issues getting around the course, and players must put themselves in the correct positions off the tee.

Our Favorites

Webb Simpson (+1100)

Simpson finished T12 at The Masters after posting a final round 70 (-2) and is the pre-tournament favorite. The veteran has had a lot of success on this course, with a win, runner-up, and five additional top-20s. Ranks fifth in driving accuracy and fourth in both par-3 and par-4 scoring.

Abraham Ancer (+3000)

The 30-year old made the cut in his last five events played, including four top-25s. Ancer finished solo second here in 2020. He wrapped up the final round of the Masters with a 70 (-2) for a T26. Ranks second in driving accuracy and 28th in birdie average.

Will Zalatoris (+2300)

Coming off a solo second at The Masters, it is now a matter of when not if the 24-year old will get his first victory on Tour. Zalatoris has missed just one cut since joining and has five additional T5s or better in 16 events. Ranks 16th in Greens in Regulation and 8th in par-5 scoring.

Matthew Fitzpatrick (+2100)

Ranks 17th in the Official World Golf Rankings and has three top-10s this season. Fitzpatrick finished T14 at this event last year. He is coming off a T34 at The Masters last week. Ranks 27th in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green and 23rd in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee.

The Darkhorses

Dylan Frittelli (+12500)

Fritelli finished tied for 8th in this tournament last season. He has missed cuts in his previous two tournaments but carded a top-25 finish at the Players last month. Ranks 13th in driving distance and 15th in putting.

Michael Thompson (+12500)

Another player that finished near the top (T8) of the leaderboard in last season’s tournament. Thompson won the 3M Open the previous year and has one top-10, and five top-25s in 13 events played this season. Ranks 20th in driving accuracy and is coming off a final-round 71 (-1) at The Masters.

Peter Malnati (+35000)
