On July 18th, the Cleveland Browns announced they’ll be sporting a throwback white helmet for the first time in 70 years this season.

The Browns also announced they’ll be rocking this new alternate helmet and their 2021 alternate uniforms for three games: Week 2 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, Week 6 vs. the San Francisco 49ers and Week 17 vs. the New York Jets.

The new helmets stay in line with the Brown’s classic orange, brown and white color scheme but switch up the placement. The team started its pro football journey with all-white helmets in 1946, then switching to an all-orange theme in the early 1950’s.

"We're super fired up and really excited to have this opportunity to wear an alternate helmet," executive vice president and partner JW Johnson said.

"We decided to go with the white helmet for a couple reasons -- it harkens back to our past, and a lot of our greatest players wore white helmets. We also heard from our fans that it was the direction they wanted.”

Throughout this last year or so, and even as recent as June, the Browns have reached to fans for their thoughts on changes to the brand, like a new dog logo and the team’s midfield logo.

The result of this year’s throwback uniform is a clean and classic look. Hopefully their upcoming season matches this vibe and carries into what should be a great season and a return to the playoffs for the Browns.
