How Many Games Will the Cleveland Browns Win This Season?

Browns QB Deshaun Watson walks off the practice field

The Cleveland Browns have been one of the most active teams since the end of the last regular season as they had a change on all three aspects of the roster. Today, we are going to figure out how many games they will win this season as the consensus number has them at 9.5 wins for the 2022-23 season and if that is too much or too little.

We are going under the assumption that the six-game NFL suspension for quarterback Deshaun Watson will be upheld and will be able to join the team during Week 7 and that is important to note.

The Browns win total is set at 9.5. You can keep up with all of our available NFL odds at betJACK Training Camp for free!

Schedule Without Watson

The schedule that the Cleveland Browns are going to have to do without Deshaun Watson is actually pretty easy as their first six weeks are on the road against the Carolina Panthers, home against the New York Jets, home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, on the road against the Atlanta Falcons, home against the Los Angeles Chargers, and home against the New England Patriots.

This Browns team is built torun the ball well with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt and only play one divisional game in that six week stretch without their starting quarterback. They should be able to go 4-2 in this stretch with some easier opponents that are not at the level of what Cleveland should be. The only tough games will be the last two home games and potentially the improved Jets on the road.

The Roster

This roster is a good team, but not a great team by any stretch of the imagination. They have a solid offensive line and two good running backs. However, I do not love their wide receiver options with Amari Cooper, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and David Bell as the top wideouts on the team.

The defense is pretty well with Jadeveon Clowney and Myles Garrett on the defensive line and having Denzel Ward in the secondary. This team is going to be good and outclass some other rosters with sheer talent, but there definitely are a few holes.

The Verdict

Deshaun Watson’s availability is going to be a huge question mark sticking in the side of the Cleveland Browns chances. However, having both games against the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals after the suspension ends, this is a great chance for the Browns to pick up 10 wins. It is critical they end up 4-2 or better heading into Watsons return as that is the easiest portion of their schedule.

Weeks 7-18 can be a little tough, but going 4-2 in the AFC North should be what they aim for as they can drain the clock against any opponent with their running game and Watson’s ability to use his legs and being healthier after more than a full season off. I can see this team winning 10-12 games, but 10 games should be the benchmark as they face a weaker NFC South as well and should do well this season with a solid core of talent.
