Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Temple Betting Preview

The Cincinnati Bearcats will host the Temple Owls at Nippert Stadium for a Friday Night showdown at 7:00 p.m. EST. The Bearcats come into this game ranked No. 5 in the AP Polls coming into conference play. They are the favorites to win the AAC this year.

Cincinnati is a perfect 4-0 and coming off one of their biggest wins in school history against Notre Dame last week to give them legitimacy for the College Football Playoff conversation. Temple is 3-2 and coming off an important win at home against Memphis to give them a 1-0 start in the conference.

Odds

The Bearcats are the heavy favorites in this matchup at -29, with -115 odds to cover that spread. The Owls, at +29, have the odds of -115 to cover. The over/under for total points scored in the game is 54 with the same odds of -110 to bet the over or the under.

Temple is 1-7 straight up in its last eight away games. Cincinnati is 10-0 straight up in its last ten home games. Cincinnati defeated Temple, 15-13, in their last meeting in November of 2019.

Keys to a Bearcats Victory

The Bearcats are going to have to continue to rely on their prolific offense to produce at the level that they have all season. Cincinnati has the 17th ranked scoring offense, putting up 38.3 points per game this season. I don’t think they should have any issue with this veteran defense that hasn’t shown many signs of life so far this season.

Cincinnati has the 8th ranked scoring defense with 14.5 points per game which will help the offense out by getting a few takeaways in this one. The Bearcats will look to fine-tune any issues that they have seen in their previous games as they have looked strong even against some of the best teams in the nation.

Keys to a Temple Victory

The Owls don’t have many keys to stopping this Cincinnati team who has been playing excellent this season. They will need to focus on keeping this game close to try to sneak one in the end.

The offense is led by 6-foot-6 Quarterback D’Wan Mathis, who is a transfer from Georgia. He played well against Memphis, throwing over 300 yards and had 50 on the ground, as well.

The defense has many veterans on the starting squad but has struggled this season. They defend the pass well but give up more yards on the ground, which should help Cincinnati running back Jerome Ford get involved in this game.

Expected Outcome

The Bearcats are expected to win each of their conference games by a considerable margin, and this one is no different. The Bearcats will overpower this Temple team. It will just be a matter of time.

This game to the Bearcats is just as important as it is for the Owls to play spoiler. Cincinnati needs to show the playoff committee that they are flawless. This includes beating weaker teams and covering the spread. The Bearcats will take care of business in this one, and it won’t be close.
