Mid-American Conference Betting Odds & Picks: Best MACtion Bets This Week

Week 1 of the college football season was filled with some dramatic upsets and shocking results, and the MAC played a role in outcomes. We are still a few weeks away from the real MACtion heating up, but league teams will be in action throughout the weekend.

There are a pair of MAC teams to bet on this week, and one MAC team to fade as this is another week for conference teams to take on some of the best in the country. Here is a look at the three best MACtion bets for this week.

Miami (Ohio) +19.5 at Minnesota Golden Gophers

Miami (Ohio) went into Cincinnati on Saturday and got blown out by the Cincinnati Bearcats. That result was understandable as the Bearcats are one of the best teams in the country.

Minnesota will host Miami this weekend, and this could be a chance for the Redhawks to turn things around in a hurry. Miami is not going to be able to win this game either, but they should be able to keep it close.

The Golden Gophers will be without star running back Mohamed Ibrahim and that is going to hurt their offense. Minnesota shouldn’t be able to move the ball very well, and Miami will stay in it because of that.

Take the +19.5 points as Miami is able to keep this game within two touchdowns.

Buffalo Bulls +13.5 at Nebraska Cornhuskers

If you are looking for a great upset pick by a MAC team this weekend then look no further than the Buffalo Bulls taking on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Buffalo is a 13.5-point underdog, but this game should be much closer than that.

Nebraska was already stunned by Illinois in the season opener, and this has not been a dominant program over the last few years. The Cornhuskers did rebound in Week 1, but there are some questions on defense.

Buffalo hung 69 points on the board in the season opener, and they are going to attack Nebraska with every single play. The Bulls will have to get some stops on defense, but their offense will keep them in a high-scoring affair.

Take the +13.5 points on Saturday, but don’t be surprised if the Bulls pull off this road upset.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish -16.5 vs. Toledo Rockets

The Toledo Rockets had no trouble in picking up a 49-10 win over Norfolk State on Saturday, but they were massive favorites in that game. Toledo now heads to South Bend, Indiana for a matchup with one of the best in college football.

Notre Dame looked to be in complete control in its season opener against Florida State, but the Fighting Irish had to survive in overtime. That result is going to refocus Notre Dame for this game, and that’s not good for Toledo.

The Rockets should be able to move the football well at times in this game, but they can’t afford to have any turnovers or miscues. The Toledo defense is going to be a problem as Notre Dame has a pair of running backs that are hard to stop.

Toledo should be able to keep this game close for a half, but they won’t be able to keep up. Forget about taking the points and bet on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish -16.5 in this game.
